Environmental & Natural Resources had the opportunity to spend the day at Harpersfield Metropark for a hands-on stream study with ODNR (Ohio Department of Natural Resources) Stream Quality Manager and Naturalist, Becky Donaldson. Students collected stream data, including turbidity, width, depth, and temperature, then used kick nets to collect and identify macroinvertebrates and small fish before releasing them back into the river.

Construction Technology seniors wasted no time getting back to work this school year! They kicked things off by building saw horses that will be used throughout the year for their hands-on projects.

Country Neighbor hosted its 9th annual Feed The Hope event at the Ashtabula County Fairgrounds, and once again, A-Tech students were happy to lend a hand!

Students from the Carpentry program and Student Ambassadors spent the day packing food and stacking boxes to help reach this year’s goal of 250,000 meals! Those meals will help Country Neighbor keep food pantries throughout Ashtabula County stocked and ready to serve local families.

We’re always proud to see our students give back, and we’re grateful to be part of a community that takes care of its own.

Our Firefighting/EMT students are putting in the work right from the start as they completed their first physical agility test focusing on necessary agility, functional strength, cardiovascular conditioning, and endurance to perform demanding tasks under stress.

Our students tackled:

StairMill with a weighted hose
Kaiser sled with a weighted sledge hammer
Weighted hose drag
90-pound farmer’s carry
150-pound mannequin drag
10 overhead sandbag lifts

Our afternoon labs have officially joined in on the First Day of School fun, and we loved seeing all the smiling faces around A-Tech this afternoon!

We are so excited to have our students back in the labs, learning, creating, and getting ready for everything the 2026–2027 school year has in store.
