Jennifer Van Vrancken is currently representing all of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana as Councilwoman At-Large, Division A. She recently served two terms representing Council District 5, which includes Metairie, Old Metairie, Fat City, and Bucktown. Prior to serving on the Parish Council, Jennifer served as Jefferson Parish’s Chief Operating Officer, where she was responsible for approximately 40 dep
artments, 2,400 parish employees, and a budget of $500 million. During her tenure on the Parish Council, Jennifer was named “Legislator of the Year” by the Alliance for Good Government. She is a leader in fighting crime and a defender of public safety, establishing a grant program for neighborhoods to purchase crime cameras. Jennifer is a cultural advocate, spearheading efforts to create art & beautification, community gatherings & events, and outdoor recreation & green spaces, especially in overlooked areas and along the parish’s beautiful coastal shoreline. Jennifer’s legislation also serves as a model across the state for its win-win approach on challenging issues, like finding a successful path for Uber & Lyft to operate fairly alongside taxis and a way for residents to opt out of newspaper ads tossed on lawns, reducing litter and earning accolades from the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality. She believes her positive, proven approach to public service will keep Jefferson moving in the right direction and preserve the safe, vibrant quality of life all residents should expect.
