📚🚒 We were honored to participate in the Jefferson City Schools Book Mobile's "Read with an American Hero" events last week!

Sergeant Deese enjoyed spending time with students, sharing the joy of reading, and encouraging a lifelong love of books.

Thank you to Jefferson City School System for inviting us to be part of this great program and to all the students who joined us for stories and summer fun.

Storm Recap – June 14, 2026

Here's a look at tonight's storms from our weather camera in Jefferson. As the storms moved through the area, our weather station recorded a peak wind gust of 44 mph.

Within the city limits, crews responded to four downed trees and a few scattered power outages. Thankfully, no major injuries have been reported.

This video captures the heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning that impacted our community this evening.

We appreciate everyone who shared reports and helped keep others informed throughout the event.

A reminder to use caution around downed trees, damaged power lines, and any remaining storm debris.

Special Weather Statement

A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of northwestern Barrow, Forsyth, northeastern Gwinnett, southwestern Hall and west central Jackson Counties through 730 PM EDT
Special Weather Statement issued June 14 at 6:55PM EDT by NWS Peachtree City GA
At 655 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was over Cu***ng, moving east at
35 mph.

HAZARD...40 to 50 mph wind, frequent cloud to ground lightning and
heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of
light, unsecured objects. Heavy rain may cause temporary
street flooding especially in poor drainage areas.

Locations impacted include...
Gainesville, Cu***ng, Sugar Hill, Suwanee, Buford, Braselton, Auburn,
Flowery Branch, Oakwood, Talmo, Rest Haven, Candler, Thompsons Mill,
Chateau Elan, Buford Dam-Lake Lanier Parks, Coal Mountain, Matt,
Aqualand Park, Chestatee, and Chestnut Mountain.
People outdoors should seek shelter immediately. If you can hear
thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Motorists
should slow down and be prepared for possible loss of control due to
hydroplaning.
