🚨🚨 FLASH FLOOD WARNING – TAKE ACTION NOW 🚨🚨

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for central Jackson County and southern Banks County until 10:15 PM.

🌧️ THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION
• 2–3 inches of rain have already fallen
• An additional 1–3 inches is possible
• Flash flooding is already occurring or will begin shortly

📍 Areas impacted: Jefferson, Commerce, Braselton, Maysville, Hoschton, Pendergrass, Talmo, Apple Valley, Banks Crossing, and surrounding areas

⚠️ IMPACTS:
Flooding of roads, creeks, low-lying areas, and poor drainage locations. Water may rise quickly and without warning.

‼️ TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY:
• DO NOT drive through flooded roads
• Turn Around, Don’t Drown
• Move to higher ground if flooding develops
• Stay alert and monitor conditions

⛈️ Weather Alert for Jackson County

Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected today through Sunday evening, bringing the potential for heavy rainfall, localized flooding, and a few strong to severe storms.

⚠️ Main Hazards:
🌧️ Heavy rainfall that could lead to localized flash flooding, especially in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
💨 Strong to damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, which could result in downed trees and isolated power outages.

🕓 Timing:
• Today: Strongest storm potential between 4 PM and Midnight
• Sunday: Additional strong storms possible 1 PM to 10 PM

Please stay weather aware this weekend, have multiple ways to receive warnings, and never drive through flooded roadways. Turn Around, Don’t Drown!

Fast moving storm headed our way! Be weather aware and stay safe!

SEVERE T-STORM WARNING ⚠️ until 9:45 PM EDT for Banks, Hall, Jackson, and White counties in northeastern Georgia. A storm near Mossy Creek or Cleveland moving south at 50 mph with 60 mph wind gusts and 0.75-inch hail. Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Move to an interior room on the lowest floor.

🌡️ HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT TODAY 🌡️

A Heat Advisory is in effect from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM today. Heat index values are expected to reach 105–110°F, creating dangerous conditions for anyone spending time outdoors.

☀️ Stay safe by:
💧 Drinking plenty of water
❄️ Staying in air-conditioned spaces when possible
🧢 Wearing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing
🚶 Limiting strenuous outdoor activities to the early morning or evening
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Checking on elderly relatives, neighbors, and those without adequate cooling

Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, and seek medical attention immediately if symptoms become severe.

Saturday our area could see the possibility of severe storms.

Storms could produce damaging wind gusts 60 mph+ and could knock down trees, limbs, and power lines.

Coverage of storms will be scattered but where they develop will likely become very strong. A tornado threat could be a possibility.

Arcade Fire dispatched as 2nd due department to assist South Jackson Fire with residential fire in the 500 block of John Collier Road. Arcade units assigned to assist with fire attack and water supply.
