SECRETARY LAROSE CALLS ON OHIOANS TO SERVE AS POLL WORKERS THIS NOVEMBER
August 11th is National Poll Worker Recruitment Day

(Columbus) – Ahead of National Poll Worker Recruitment Day, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is once again encouraging Ohioans to answer the call to serve as poll workers and help ensure another successful Election Day.

“Every election depends on dedicated Ohioans who are willing to serve their communities,” said Secretary LaRose. “This November, voters across the state will be casting ballots in important races that will shape Ohio’s future. Poll workers are the men and women who ensure every eligible voter can cast a ballot conveniently and with confidence.”

Ohio’s elections are administered by local county boards of elections, and they rely on tens of thousands of trained poll workers who serve at voting locations across the state. Poll workers assist voters, verify voter eligibility, help operate voting equipment, and ensure election procedures are followed throughout Election Day.

To help recruit the next generation of poll workers, the Ohio Secretary of State’s office continues to partner with businesses, schools, veterans' organizations, nonprofits, and community groups through the Defend Democracy Toolkit.

Poll workers receive training before Election Day and are compensated for both their training and their service. Earlier this year, Secretary LaRose announced a $1 million grant to support boards of elections’ poll worker recruitment and training efforts ahead of the November 3 General Election.

“Serving as a poll worker is one of the most meaningful ways Ohioans can give back to their communities,” LaRose said. “Whether you’re a first-time poll worker or a longtime volunteer, your service helps uphold the integrity of every election and strengthens confidence in our democratic process.”

Ohioans interested in serving can learn more and apply through their local county board of elections or by visiting VoteOhio.gov.
