On the 25th anniversary of September 11, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost in New York City, at the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

We honor the victims, their families, the first responders, and all those whose lives were forever changed that day.

Twenty-five years later, we remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

The Jefferson Hills Democratic Committee is deeply saddened by the passing of Michael “Doc” Kulish, Jr., Ph.D., a longtime friend, community leader, and dedicated public servant.

Doc devoted much of his life to serving Jefferson Hills. He served 12 years on Jefferson Hills Borough Council and was a longtime leader and active member of our Democratic Committee, including serving as Chairman. His commitment to public service reflected a genuine belief in giving back and making the community he called home a better place.

But Doc’s impact reached far beyond local government and politics. He dedicated his career to education and spent 34 years coaching the Thomas Jefferson High School Boys Soccer Team, mentoring generations of young people along the way.

Jefferson Hills has lost someone who gave an extraordinary amount of his life to this community. We are grateful for Doc’s many years of friendship, leadership, and service, and we extend our deepest condolences to his wife, Helen, his son, Michael, his family, friends, former players, and all those whose lives he touched.

Thank you for your service to Jefferson Hills, Doc. You will be greatly missed. đź’™

May his memory and his many contributions to our community live on.

This Labor Day, we honor generations of workers who helped build Southwestern PA—from our mines and mills to the many trades and professions that keep our communities moving forward today.

To those who built our past and those building our future: thank you.

They keep shouting labels (and nonsense)

That’s Ok, we’ll stay focused on what will improve people’s lives.

Important for Jefferson Hills residents: Borough Council will hold a public hearing tomorrow, September 2, at 6:00 p.m. regarding a proposed lease of Borough-owned oil and gas mineral rights.

The proposed agreement would allow horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing beneath approximately 31 acres of Borough-owned property, with drilling originating from another location. No well pads or surface drilling would be permitted on the Borough parcels themselves.

Decisions involving fracking and publicly owned mineral rights deserve public awareness and community input. We encourage residents to learn more, attend tomorrow’s hearing, and make their voices heard before Council takes action.

A Public Hearing of Borough Council will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Center, 925 Old Clairton Road, Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, 15025.

The purpose of the hearing is to discuss the proposed leasing of Borough-owned oil and gas mineral rights for Parcel Nos. 883-R-250 and 1005-R-100.
