Memorial Day weekend is coming to a close, but the gratitude we owe our fallen heroes never does.

Tonight, as families gather, lakes empty out, and the flags come down, let’s remember the men and women who never made it home.

As a former employee of the DAP on Pear Street, working at Johnson Controls (Now, Clarios) gave me the opportunity to purchase my first home and even helped with college tuition. As far as employers in St. Joseph go, Clarios ranks right at the top in terms of pay and benefits.

I am glad to see Clarios's continued committment to our community will result in an addittional 123 job opportunities locally!

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Clarios, a global and local manufacturer of advanced low-voltage batteries, announced plans to invest $400 million and create up to 123 full-time jobs in St. Joseph.

The Royals might be moving downtown. However, It is unclear how the court is going rule on the Constitutionality of tacking disaster relief credits, property tax caps, and stadium funding all into one bill. While deference favors the legislature, MO SB 3 does seem to combine unrelated provisions/riders. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

As a lifelong Royals fan I’m glad they’re staying in Missouri and downtown baseball seems exciting. It’s worth asking what leverage the Royals still had that the legislature didn’t repeal funding? I doubt this deal falls through without the state contribution.

The bill authorizing state support for professional sports stadiums is unconstitutional because it grants public aid to private interests and combines widely different and unrelated subjects, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday by two state lawmakers. State Sen. Mike Moon, a Republican from Ash Gr...

We need to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse so that meaningful tax relief is made possible. Expanding taxation to prop up a budget that's doubled in the past 10 years is not at all conservative. I want to thank the Republicans that refused fall in line with partisan agendas and refused to go against the interests of our senior citizens, disabled veterans, and working class families.

Put this way, a higher Missouri sales tax might be good for the Elwood, Kansas economy, but not for St. Joseph, Missouri's HD 10.

Late last night into early this morning, the Missouri Senate voted to move forward with HJR 173/174.

This does not guarantee the income tax goes away. I want to eliminate the income tax. But real conservatism means discipline, limits, and honesty with taxpayers. Not giving government more flexibility and hoping it does the right thing.

This proposal expands the legislature’s ability to raise other taxes, while loosening the constraints that keep spending in check.

Missouri has protections through the Hancock Amendment that put voters in charge of major tax increases. Weakening those guardrails isn’t conservative. Thankfully, voters of the show me state won’t go for this.
