Juneteenth celebrates an important piece of our nation's history and Black heritage. In 1980, Texas declared a state holiday. Dozens of states have since followed suit, including Missouri in 2003. Although Juneteenth celebrations have grown and changed over the years, the purpose behind the holiday—a celebration of independence and freedom—remains.

HEY. Come here. Do you know the difference between a tornado watch and a tornado warning? Severe weather can be cool to see but pretty please get off your front porch and take the weather seriously.

Think about it like a burger⤵
🍔 WATCH: We have all of the ingredients to make burgers. If you don't want a burger, think ahead about how you plan to avoid burgers.
🍔 WARNING: We are going to eat burgers RIGHT NOW. Like, NOW. Even if you didn't make burgers, maybe a neighbor did. Either way, burgers are in your area.

'Naders and severe thunderstorms are the same way. We either have the ingredients (which can be dangerous enough on their own) or we've got a suspected tornado or thunderstorm in or around the area.

The weather could be rough today depending on where you're at. Handle your burgers accordingly.

📣 10 days left for feedback!

Each year, we receive federal Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Block Grant funding to help improve the health and well-being of Missouri’s pregnant women, mothers, infants, children, adolescents, and children and youth with special healthcare needs—and their families.

We are asking for public comments on the Federal Fiscal Year 2027 Proposed Use of Funds. Your insights help shape how these dollars are used to support vital MCH services across Missouri.

🚨 How could someone willingly abuse or exploit senior citizens? Well, for a family in Ray County, MO, taking advantage of vulnerable people is the norm.

Allow us to introduce you to Tammera Darrah. Some of you may remember her name from a case posted earlier this year starring her son and daughter-in-law who allegedly stole $3.2 million in money and land from an elderly couple that they knew and supposedly cared about. The investigation revealed a disturbing history of financial exploitation running rampant through their family tree.

Tammera Darrah was charged with five counts of stealing, three counts of perjury, harassment and misdemeanor trespassing back in October 2025.

Darrah served as a guardian to two elderly individuals. During that time, she allegedly stole numerous expensive belongings from them, such as a Ford explorer, a commercial van, a Dodge 5500 flatbed truck, a Kubota lawn tractor and trailer, two jet skis, Milwaukee power tools, a skid steer, a Yamaha motorcycle and an Arctic Cat four-wheeler.

Even after being given a direct order to stay off the victims' property, Darrah allegedly went back anyway. She unfortunately didn't stop there, shouting at and threatening another victim, causing emotional distress.

On top of that, prosecutors also accused Darrah of knowingly providing false testimony under oath at least three separate times during an elderly guardianship and visitation hearing. They even believe that she was lying about not knowing who sold her son, Trenton Hansuld, the property that would become his pet store.

We take reports of abuse against seniors very seriously. Today, on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, we encourage everybody to recognize the warning signs of abuse and fill out a report if you see it. Online reporting is available 24/7 at Health.Mo.Gov/abuse.

Our Office of Special Investigations helped to bring down the crime ring in Ray County. Despite the current charges, this is an ongoing investigation at this time.

It's almost match day in Missouri! Do you have your game plan ready? How do YOU plan to win this summer? Use these tips as reminders:

💦 Stay hydrated! Drink water even if you're not thirsty yet.
🧴 Use sunscreen with an SPF of 30+ and stay cool in the shade.
🤧 If you're feeling sick, stay away from other people! Yes, even if it means staying home from a match.
🦟 Make sure to use insect repellent when you are outdoors.
🧼 Practice good hand hygiene. Wash your hands often, especially before eating.
🚨 If you are using any substances, be very cautious. Watch out for signs of alcohol poisoning or overdose. Carry naloxone with you if you can (find some at GetMissouriNaloxone.com) and do not hesitate to use it. Always call 911 in an emergency.

👶 Cytomegalovirus (CMV) looks intense, but it doesn't have to be scary. CMV is a common virus that affects people of all ages. In fact, over half of adults have been infected with CMV by age 40 without symptoms. It can be dangerous when a pregnant woman develops an active infection because it can lead to serious birth defects and developmental disabilities if it's passed along to baby.

About one out of every 200 babies is born with CMV infection, and one in 5 of those babies will have long-term health problems like hearing loss, vision loss and cerebral palsy. Pregnant women who already have young children, or who work with young children, are at high risk of catching CMV.

To reduce the risk of contracting CMV:
👶Don't share food, utensils, drinks, straws or toothbrushes with young children
👶Do not put a pacifier in your mouth
👶Avoid kissing children on the mouth
👶Wash your hands frequently

If you are pregnant and have concerns about CMV, please talk with your doctor. More info: NationalCMV.org.
