Boleware/Brown for CN President

Boleware/Brown for CN President Katie Boleware for Student Body President and Dylan Brown for Vice-President of Carson Newman University. Dylan Brown is in the Bonner Program at Carson-Newman.

Katie Boleware has been in SGA since her freshman year. Her first year she served as a delegate, and her sophomore year she served as Secretary of Projects and Services. Her freshman year she was able to put together and administer the Information Desk in the MSAC. This year she was able to plan and administer several events on campus such as Candlelight Vespers, Operation Christmas Campus, Big Ma

n on Campus, and Concert at the Columns. She also helped plan events such as The Time Capsule Event, The Road to the White House Event, and The Big Stache. Apart from SGA, Katie is involved in several other clubs and organizations on and off campus. She worked as an Orientation Leader and also a Peer Mentor to the freshman class. She attends Mossy Creek Fellowship, and is a part of Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority where she served as Campus Liaison. She is a CN Football Hostess and help started the Young Women of Promise club for girls that is affiliated with Women of Vision. With the help of other students she was able to plan The Redefine Beauty Campaign and market the The Refuge Film Children of the Trash. She also works for TVA Upward Bound Program for high school students and at Arrowhead Church with their childcare. She received the Freshman Year Student Commitment Award and the Projects and Services committee has received many accolades over the past two years. His love for service combined with his love for CN made him decide to join SGA. He has served as a delegate for his class and has represented them well. He is ready to step into an even greater role in SGA and is excited about the future. He is also involved in Global Outreach. Because of their involvement in so many campus activities they have been able to have so many influences and resources to pull from. SGA worked very hard this year to partner with many organizations. We hope to do more in the future! "Empowering others to share their passions"

Hey guys, share our new video along with our campaign platform.

Our Campaign Platform:

1. We would like to create a digital yearbook.

We have so many great events on campus and no way to remember them all. We do not have yearbooks anymore because of the price of paper and the lack of staff. Having a digital yearbook will allow all students to submit videos and photos throughout the year. They will be compiled and redistributed into a DVD at the end of the school year. This year you will be able to have the memories of college forever!

2. We would like to put a picnic area in the back of the library where the new Java City is being built.

We all like to spend time in the beautiful outdoors and what a better way to be able to do that then hanging out with friends at a picnic table.

3. We would also like to begin working with a new initiative on campus called the Five Oaks Initiative. They are the new liaison between campus life and downtown Jefferson City.

4. We would like to work on helping freshman be more involved.

Katie has worked as an orientation leader this past year and as a peer mentor with the LA classes. She has seen the importance of being more accessible to freshman. This does not mean throwing more "freshman only" programs but being able to relate and incorporate the incoming freshman into the Carson Newman lifestyle!

5. We love the new sand volleyball court that SGA was able to build this year! We would like to make it better by adding more grills and some more hammock poles so that it's a cool place to "hang".

6. We would like to continue the events we have already done this year like Big Man on Campus and make it an annual event that becomes a part of CNU history. We would also like to bring back our Howdy Hoot and Eagle Strut events.

These events embody the spirit of Cason-Newman and its love of friendly competition. In the last few years we have thought of these event as "first year" events but, that is not how they started. We would like to see them make a huge comeback!

7. We would like to help repair hammock city and help put hammock poles around campus behind residents halls! We would like to help restore the BOLD bikes for student use. We would also like to partner with Women of Vision and the Alumni Association in their efforts to better and beautify our school.

We saw with the participation in the time capsule event that more and more students want to be involved. We want to hear from you and encourage you to become more involved on campus and in SGA!

Finally as leader of SGA Katie would like to make it a more active body instead of a passive one. Over the past few years SGA has been run by a few people in leadership positions. Katie would like everyone in SGA to have a role that they are responsible for. This is a way to build ownership in the role that is being played and it helps SGA as a whole.
