Our Executive Director was excited to attend the United Way of Central Missouri community grant presentation today and receive a grant to provide necessary repairs to our two box trucks.

Our ReStore truck will receive much needed repairs to the lift so we can continue to pick up heavy item donations throughout the area.

Our Can truck will also receive much needed rust protection and new paint to ensure its longevity picking up donated aluminum cans to recycle.

Both programs assist us in our larger goal of building affordable housing in Cole County.

Our Playhouse Builds event is going to bring so much joy to kids in Jefferson City!

The requests from children are rolling in:
🖌️ A 2 year old & 8 year old would like a castle themed playhouse
🖌️ 7 year old & 5 year old brothers would like a sports theme
🖌️ A 5 year old boy wants superheroes (Spiderman, if possible)
🖌️ 3 year old & 5 year old brothers want a basketball theme

The children are waiting for your team to sign up and agree to design a special place where they can play outdoors. Are you ready?

This week, we had the privilege of welcoming the team from River City Construction, LLC to the build site at 702 Ewing, which is the home they are proudly sponsoring!

But their support didn’t stop with a check. Their team showed up ready to work, serve, and encourage. They jumped right in alongside our staff and brought incredible energy to the jobsite all day long.

Thank you to River City Construction and the entire Ashland team for believing in affordable housing and helping us open the door to homeownership for another local family!

Save the Date!

Over the past several years, the Capital City Housing Task Force has worked to bring housing issues in Jefferson City into the public conversation through community events, research, workshops, and partnerships.

While things may have seemed quieter publicly over the last year, much of our work moved behind the scenes as we focused on one major goal: Helping create a long-term Housing Strategy for our community.

Over the last few years, that work included:
• Researching local housing trends
• Participating in national housing strategy workshops
• Developing and issuing a formal Request for Proposals (RFP)
• Selecting and working with a housing consultant
• Collaborating with local stakeholders and community leaders

Housing challenges are complex, and meaningful progress takes time. But we are excited to begin sharing what has been happening and what comes next.

We invite you to stay engaged as we move into the next phase of this work together.
