Thanks to KRCG 13 for helping us spread the word about protecting Missourians from romance scams! ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’ฐ

Did you know you can add a "trusted contact" to your brokerage account? This simple step can help stop scammers in their tracks. If your brokerage firm notices something suspicious, they can reach out to your trusted person to make sure you're okay.

These scams can happen to anyoneโ€”protect yourself and share this information with your loved ones. Every year, romance scammers steal millions from unsuspecting victims. Let's work together to keep our Missouri communities safe!

Today was my last day as a member of the Missouri House of Representatives. Thank you to my friends, Speaker of the House Jon Patterson, Floor Leader Rep. Alex Riley, and Rep. Jim Murphy State Representative 94th House District, for helping to make my last day in the House as special as my first. After some very kind words from Rep. Murphy and a farewell speech, the Speaker allowed me to do one of my favorite things, run the dais, for one last time. This day has been incredibly sad for me as I leave behind so many people with whom I have become close. I have attached the video from today's brief proceedings on the floor. As sad as I am today, I am so excited about tomorrow, which will be my first day as Missouri's Commissioner of Securities. When one door closes, another opens.

Dear Friends and Constituents,

It is with mixed emotions that I announce my resignation from the Missouri House of Representatives, effective Wednesday, January 15th. I have been appointed by Secretary of State-Elect Denny Hoskins to serve as Missouri's new Commissioner of Securities.

For the past six years, you have entrusted me with the tremendous responsibility of representing our district in Jefferson City. Your support, engagement, and trust have meant the world to me, and it has been the honor of a lifetime to serve as your State Representative.

In my new role, I look forward to putting my three decades of securities industry experience to work protecting all Missourians. I am deeply grateful to Secretary-Elect Hoskins for this opportunity to continue serving our great state in this new capacity.

While I will miss representing you in the House, I am excited to take on this new challenge. Thank you again for your trust and support over the years. It has been my highest privilege to serve as your voice in the Missouri House of Representatives.

Sincerely,
Michael O'Donnell
State Representative

Yesterday was our constitutionally mandated veto session in the Missouri House of Representatives. It was also the 23rd anniversary of 9/11. A few of my colleagues asked me to share my experiences of that day in remembrance of those tragic events. While it was tough to get through, it's so important never to forget those we lost that day, including my friend Karl Smith.

I'm excited to announce my appointment to the Southern States Energy Board by Missouri House Speaker Dean Plocher. This additional role aligns perfectly with my years of experience in the Missouri House of Representatives, where I've dedicated significant effort to crafting and refining utility legislation. Thank you, Mr. Speaker

The Southern States Energy Board plays a crucial role in shaping energy policy across our region, and I'm honored to bring Missouri's perspective to the table. My appointment reflects the trust placed in me by Speaker Plocher and the legislature to represent our state's interests in this important forum.

Throughout my tenure in the House, I've worked tirelessly on various utility issues, from grid modernization to rate reduction efforts. This new position will allow me to leverage that expertise on a broader scale, collaborating with colleagues from across the South to address our shared energy challenges and opportunities.

I look forward to contributing to the Board's mission of advancing innovation, economic development, and environmental stewardship in the energy sector. Together, we'll work towards a more reliable and prosperous energy future for our region.

๐ŸŒŸ Honoring Outstanding Achievement! ๐Ÿ†

I was honored to present a special resolution from the Missouri House of Representatives to an impressive young man, Ethan W., for his remarkable achievement in becoming an Eagle Scout.

Ethan's journey to Eagle Scout is inspiring, but it's his incredible Eagle Scout Project that really captured my attention. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ He led a dedicated group of volunteers in an endeavor to remove tons of trash from a cave in Southeast Missouri to restore wildlife habitat, leaving a lasting impact on our environment and community. The word 'tons' is not for hyperbole, the volunteers he led actually removed more than 3 tons of trash.

Congratulations to Ethan W. for his achievement, his leadership, and dedication to making our world a better place! ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒŽ

๐ŸŒฟ Embracing the Great Outdoors: A Day at the Rock Island Trail Summit ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ

What an incredible day it was today at the Rock Island Trail Summit in Eldon, Missouri! A large group of passionate volunteers came together to support the development of this magnificent trail, and I was fortunate to be a part of this inspiring event.

The Rock Island Trail is more than just a bike path; it's a symbol of progress, rife with economic development potential. Many of us legislators are aware of how important this project is to these communities and are eager to help.

I was really struck by the commitment and investment that the communities on the route are making in preparation for this trail. They are preparing their businesses, streets, and sidewalks for the steady stream of visitors.

I had the extra treat of getting to see one of the train tunnels that the trail will go through. At more than 5 football fields long, the tunnel is longer than any on the current Katy Trail.

The Rock Island Trail Summit highlighted the power of collaboration. ๐Ÿ’ช It reminded me that when we come together for a shared goal, we can achieve incredible feats. All of these towns are excited by the progress of their neighbors because their aware that their success is tied together.

I want to express my gratitude to every volunteer who dedicated their time and energy to keep the project on the tracks (pun intended). ๐Ÿ™ Your commitment is truly to your communities is commendable, and I'm excited to see the Rock Island Trail continue to progress and to see these towns flourish with such a dedicated team behind it.
