Very thankful for grants like these that help make vital equipment accessible for small rural fire departments. Tools like thermal cameras truly make a difference in protecting lives, property, and the communities we serve. 🚒🔥
On April 25, shifting winds carried an ember from a brush pile into a nearby barn. When the Jeffers Fire Department responded, firefighters used a thermal camera funded through a Compeer Giving Emergency Responder Grant to quickly locate the source of the fire inside the structure.
Instead of searching blindly, crews were able to identify the heat source and apply foam directly where it was needed — helping contain the fire before it could spread.
“For a small rural department, equipment like this is extremely valuable and makes a real difference during an emergency.” — Jeffers Fire Chief Cory Schroeder
Support for rural emergency responders helps communities respond faster, protect property and use limited resources more effectively.
