🚨 TEMPORARY CLOSURE & SEVERE WEATHER ADVISORY 🚨

Bushy Run Battlefield State Park and Museum will be CLOSED until further notice.

Following the severe weather moving through our area, the battlefield is currently experiencing significant storm-related hazards and a loss of power. Trees are down across our power lines, and there is a strong possibility that live electrical wires are down on or near the property.

For the safety of our visitors, volunteers, staff, and emergency personnel, the museum, grounds, and trails are closed to the public.

🌳 TRAILS & GROUNDS CLOSED

There is currently a tree down across every major trail on the property, along with numerous branches and other storm debris. Additional storms are expected this evening and throughout the weekend, creating an ongoing risk of falling trees, deadfall, falling limbs, and additional damage.

🔒 GATES WILL REMAIN LOCKED

All park access gates will remain locked while we assess the damage and work to determine when the property can safely reopen. Please do not enter the property around the gates or attempt to access the trails on foot.

⚡ PLEASE STAY OUT OF THE AREA

Until power has been restored and the property has been thoroughly assessed, visitors should assume that downed electrical lines may be energized. Never approach or touch a downed wire, and please keep children and pets away from the property during the closure.

We will provide an update as soon as we have confirmation that power has been restored and the grounds can be safely evaluated.

There will be no reopening until public safety can be verified.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work through the aftermath of this storm. Our first priority is protecting our visitors, volunteers, staff, and this historic landscape.

🚨 IMPORTANT EVENT UPDATE – SUNDAY, AUGUST 2 🚨

Due to the persistent rain and wet conditions, today's 263rd Battle Reenactment outdoors has been canceled. However, we are moving some reenactors indoors! Lectures will take place as scheduled and we are filling in with other activities.

After careful consideration, we left this decision to the reenactors themselves. Last evening, the overwhelming majority voted to break camp before the heaviest rain arrived and return home in order to protect their equipment, supplies, and personal belongings. As a result, our sutlers have also packed up and departed.

Unfortunately, black powder demonstrations and battle reenactments cannot be conducted safely in rainy conditions, making today's battle impossible.
The museum and indoor activities will continue as scheduled, and several of our Native American interpreters have chosen to remain in camp and will be available to visit with guests throughout the day.

While we're disappointed that Mother Nature had other plans, we appreciate the understanding of our visitors and the dedication of our reenactors, volunteers, and interpreters who worked so hard to make this weekend possible.

We invite everyone to stop by, explore the museum, meet our interpreters, and enjoy what remains of today's programming. Thank you for your continued support of Bushy Run Battlefield, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back next year.

The peaceful morning sun is a tranquil illusion for the epic clash of opposing forces at Pennsylvania's only Native American battlefield.

This weekend, the scene will be filled with the sights, sounds, and scents of the 18th century on the frontier. Join over 100 reenactors and volunteers for the 263rd anniversary of the Battle of Bushy Run.
