Vermont is a small, scenic ski and golf town (thanks to Jay Peak Resort) located at the very top of Vermont in Orleans county and borders Quebec, Canada to the north. Jay is in an area of the state known as the "Northeast Kingdom" and is one of the last "undeveloped" towns where you still find peace and serenity while enjoying the world-class recreational opportunities that exist within our borders. Activities in Jay include skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling on VAST trails, golf, hiking, fishing, hunting, bird watching, mountain biking, and spectacular fall leaf peeping. Jay Peak Resort's 18 Hole Golf Course, NHL size Indoor Ice Arena, Pump House Indoor Water Park, Conference Center and Mountain Learning Center has truly turned Jay Peak Resort into a four season destination. Includes Clips & Reel Recreational Center offering indoor climbing gym, movie theater and arcade. Recently completed two new turf fields will offer a place to play soccer, rugby, lacrosse, and field hockey.
The Jay Community Recreational Centre - JCRC owned by the Town of Jay, obtained through the Vermont Land Trust, offers year round free access to cross country skiing and snowshoeing trails, hiking, bird watching, walking paths and biking trails (motorized vehicles not allowed) and Mountain Biking Trails. Recently added Gazebo and Privy. Located off the Cross Road it is free to all area residents and visitors.
