𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟮𝗻𝗼𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟲𝘁𝗵, the Jasper Police Department Front Lobby will be closed to walk in traffic due to elections activities.

The Jasper Municipal Courtroom located at 55 G.G. Lovell Drive in Jasper is a voting precinct in Pickens County - with the PD front lobby temporarily set up in the Courtroom, we will need to vacate that space so Elections staff may get things set up on Monday, and then all day Tuesday during voting.

UPDATE 8:35AM - Cove Rd is OPEN

Cove Road is currently CLOSED between Burnt Mountain Road and Still Hollow Drive due to an extremely low tractor trailer that is having to be backed up Cove Road to the 3 way intersection to turn around as they cannot navigate Cove Road and the S curves. The City of Jasper Police Department - Georgia anticipates the road should be reopened by 9AM at the latest.

Hood Rd is closed in the vicinity of 359 Hood Rd due to a tractor trailer being stuck on the road. This is near the old Shoe plant.

Please use an alternate route.

As a reminder, the front lobby will close to walk in traffic at 12noon today and will be closed Tuesday 5-19 for elections.

We have made contact with Melissa.

In cases where a person is reported missing, the Sheriff’s Office cannot list them as located until a Law Enforcement Officer has met with them and confirmed their identity.

We would like to thank our caring community who jumped into action to assist with this situation.

The Pickens Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Melissa Childers, who has been reported missing.

She was last known to be in the Jackson Street area of Jasper.

If you have any information on Melissa’s whereabouts, please contact the Pickens Non-Emergency 911 at 706-253-8911 or submit an anonymous tip by texting PSOtip and your message to 847411.
