Engine 14

Earlier this week a push in ceremony was held to officially place Engine 14 into service. Push in ceremonies are a fire service tradition dating back to the 1800s when engines where horse drawn and had to be manually pushed back into the stations by the firefighters.

Engine 14 will serve the City of Jasper from Station 14. The engine was originally ordered in 2022 and is a 2025 model Sutphen Pumper. It was purchased and equipped using SPLOST funds.

Below are images from the push in ceremony and Engine 14's first call for service.

Please see the post below from our partners at the Georgia Forestry Commission regarding the annual summer burn restrictions. These restrictions go into effect tomorrow, May 1, 2026.

🚫 Annual Summer Burn Ban Begins May 1

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division’s annual summer burn ban goes into effect tomorrow for 54 counties, primarily in and around metro Atlanta.

This seasonal ban is in place each year to help protect air quality during the summer months and will remain in effect through October 1.

⚠️ What this means:
➡️ Open burning is not permitted in the affected counties during this time
➡️ The ban is separate from current wildfire-related restrictions in other parts of the state

If you live in or near metro Atlanta, be sure to check if your county is included and plan accordingly.

April 24, 2026

Due to the lack of precipitation and low relative humidity levels, the Jasper Fire Department is issuing a Total Outdoor Burn Ban effective April 24th. This burn ban will be in effect until further notice.

The burn ban applies to ALL outdoor burning including campfires and recreational fires with no exceptions. The burn ban will be in effect until May 1, 2026, at which time the annual burn ban for North Georgia will go into effect. Officials are monitoring the situation closely and will publish further announcements as needed.

We need everyone to understand and be aware that we are in dangerous fire conditions, and the City of Jasper asks for your cooperation to help protect the public.
