Today, we pause to honor the life and service of Assistant Chief Richard Meeks of the Curry Fire & Rescue family, a man who dedicated so much of his life to serving others through the fire service and protecting his community.
Richard dedicated countless hours to protecting, training, and serving his community with courage, leadership, and a servant’s heart. His impact reached far beyond emergency calls — he was a mentor, a brother to many in the fire service, and a man who answered the call whenever others were in need.
Richard’s passion for helping people was evident in everything he did. Whether he was answering the call in the fire service or working alongside our schools to improve emergency plans and safety procedures, he always put others first. He cared deeply about making sure students, staff, and our community were prepared and protected.
His dedication, leadership, and drive to help others will never be forgotten. Richard made a lasting impact on countless lives, and his legacy will continue through the people he mentored, trained, served alongside, and the community he helped keep safe.
From all of us at Boldo Fire & Rescue Department, we extend our deepest prayers and condolences to the Meeks family, his brothers and sisters at Curry Fire, and everyone whose life he touched.
The fire service is a family, and today our hearts grieve alongside the Meeks family and our brothers and sisters at Curry Fire. Please keep his family, friends, and everyone affected by this loss in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” — John 15:13
Rest easy, Richard.
We’ll take the watch from here.
