Please join us in congratulating Deputies Brooke Tykol and Faith Eddings as they begin their careers with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. We’re excited to have them with us and look forward to the dedication they’ll bring to the citizens of Jasper County.
Brooke Tykol is a lifelong resident of Jasper with deep roots in the local community. Raised in the rodeo world, she developed a strong work ethic and a disciplined, professional mindset early in life. With years of experience in the medical field and as a business owner for the past three years, Brooke has cultivated a genuine passion for serving others. She is married and considers her greatest joy to be her two children, Jolee and Wacey. Brooke is honored for the opportunity to give back to the community she calls home and is committed to serving and protecting the citizens of Jasper County. Brooke will be joining her dad, Deputy Vern Kaylor, who also works for the Jasper County Sheriff's Office.
Faith Eddings, a native of San Augustine, is proud to serve and build meaningful connections within the Jasper community. With a background in the medical field, she has developed a strong passion for helping and caring for others—values she carries with her into her career in law enforcement. Faith is a devoted mother to her two children, Kinzley and Kohen, who are her greatest joy and motivation. She is honored for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Jasper County and is committed to making a positive impact in the community.
These two young ladies have worked very hard and have accepted the responsibility of being Texas Peace Officers. Although they will face many challenges, I have every confidence that their work ethic, integrity and dedication will overcome any obstacle that they will face. I look forward to working with them and they are going to do an outstanding job for the citizens of Jasper County. Welcome to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Eddings and Deputy Tykol!
Congratulations to JCSO Investigator Calvin Starkie on his well-deserved recognition from Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas! The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office was proud to attend the annual Back the Blue Brunch, where Investigator Starkie proudly represented our agency. After beginning his career with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office in January 2025, Investigator Starkie immediately began assisting the Newton County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation into the November 2022 missing persons case involving Joshua Larkin. Starkie diligently pursued hundreds of leads and dedicated countless hours to the case. Through his investigative efforts, he was able to establish probable cause for the arrest of four individuals involved in the disappearance and murder of Joshua Larkin. Since joining JCSO, Investigator Starkie has exceeded expectations through his professionalism, determination, and thorough investigative work. His commitment has helped provide the Larkin family with some answers, while also assisting the Newton County District Attorney’s Office and the Newton County Sheriff's Office in its pursuit of justice. We congratulate Investigator Starkie on this well-earned achievement, along with all of the other award recipients. Southeast Texas is truly home to an outstanding law enforcement community.
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office would like to wish Jail Sergeant Mike Selph a very special happy 'work-iversary!' Sunday marked 20 years since Mike joined the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, and we are incredibly thankful for his years of dedication, hard work and service to Jasper County. Throughout the past two decades, Sergeant Selph has been a dependable leader within our jail division, always willing to step up, help others and serve with professionalism and integrity. His commitment to the safety of our community and the operation of our jail does not go unnoticed. We are proud to have Sergeant Selph as part of the JCSO family and look forward to many more years of service alongside him. Congratulations on 20 years, Mike, and thank you for everything you do!
On Saturday morning, I was presented with the Community Builder Award by members of the Nathan Corley Masonic Lodge of Kirbyville. This award represents the highest form of recognition a Masonic lodge can bestow upon a non-Mason. I am very grateful to have received this honor and the nice meal provided. I also want to extend my appreciation to the community for its continued support of the Jasper County Sheriff's Office.
On May 5, 2026, at approximately 7:15 a.m., Deputy Harrell responded to a report of a physical disturbance on U.S. Highway 96 at County Road 907 involving a male and female. It was also reported that a rifle was inside the vehicle. The female, later identified as Veronica Melvin, 31, of Bon Weir, fled the scene but was stopped by Deputy Harrell a short time later. During the investigation, it was determined that Melvin had stolen the vehicle. As she was leaving, the vehicle’s owner jumped into the bed of the truck. While traveling on U.S. Highway 96, the owner was able to break out the rear window and cause the vehicle to leave the roadway and enter a ditch. A rifle was located in the driver’s seat area. Melvin asked Deputy Harrell if she could retrieve her Altoids from the passenger seat. Upon inspection, the container was found to contain a small bag of suspected methamphetamine. The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
On May 5, 2026, Brittney Pulliam, 32, of Kirbyville, was wanted by the Kirbyville Police Department on a third-degree felony warrant for cruelty to non-livestock animals. Pulliam turned herself in to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office later in the day, where she was taken into custody and booked on the warrant. This case was filed and investigated by the Kirbyville Police Department. All inquiries regarding this case should be directed to that office.
On May 8, 2026, at approximately 10:38 a.m., Sheriff Chuck Havard received a call from the Chief Deputy of the Delta County Texas Sheriff's Office regarding a wanted fugitive believed to be located in Jasper County. The Chief Deputy advised Kaitlyn Brooke Jones, 30, of Enloe, Texas, was staying at Motel 8 in Jasper. Jasper County deputies were immediately deployed to the motel, where they located Jones and placed her under arrest without incident. The arrest stems from an MTRP warrant out of Delta County for abandonment/child endangerment, a state jail felony.
Everyone listed in this report is innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
