THROWBACK THURSDAY

In September 1980 three construction workers were buried alive in a cave-in at the Jasper Wastewater Treatment Plant on Marvin Hancock Drive in Jasper.

The men were employed by Belco Construction Company out of Temple Texas, which was the general contractor for the construction of the plant.

The ditch was about 15 feet deep where it caved in and covered the victims. Rescuers worked frantically to uncover the workers and then transported them to the local hospital.

All three survived the incident.
