On Wednesday 9/9/2026 the City of Jasper participated in the Remembrance Memorial Event to honor the 25th Anniversary of the tragic attacks to the World Trade Centers on 9/11/2001.

Hundreds gathered in the street on the westside of the Jasper Courthouse Square to pay tribute during the memorial service.

Local Officials along with Special Guest spoke about the events of that day that changed so many lives. Three New York firefighters that traveled to Jasper for the program were also recognized and honored.

It was great to see our community come out and support this event.

This Friday 9/11 will be Patriot Day, take a few moments to reflect and remember the ones that gave the ultimate sacrifice and family's that lost love ones.

THROWBACK THURSDAY

After the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center’s the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department and along with East End, Angelina River, Roganville, Lake Rayburn and Tri-Community Fire Departments collected money by standing in the intersection of Wheeler and Gibson Streets with their boots.

Within two days firefighters had collected over $22,000.

Firefighters continued to raise money over the next couple weeks and was able to deliver $35,000 to the firefighters in New York City.

Our community came together during these tragic events to help with the recovery efforts in New York City.

The City of Jasper received a shipment yesterday with some new Christmas items to enhance this year's Christmas in the Park!

Tomorrow, Wednesday, 9/9/26 will be the Remberence Memorial Event of the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, held on the Jasper Court House Square at 8:30 am.

City of Jasper Street and Drainage Departments will have portions of Main and Lamar Streets closed for the event.

Starting this evening at 5 pm, Main Street from Houston Street intersection to Lamar Street intersection will be closed throughout the night in preparation for the event.

Lamar Street from Bowie Street intersection to Austin Street intersection will be closed starting at 5 am tomorrow and will remain closed during the event.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Everyone is welcome to attend this wonderful tribute to the great men and women that paid the ultimate sacrifice on that tragic day.

Many special guest will be in attendance along with local officials speaking.
