We stopped by the River Centre office and found some proud library card holders! September is Library Card Sign Up Month, and we’ll be out and about looking for more people with their cards. A big thanks to Dubois County Health Department - Indiana for partnering with us to present Fall Prevention! We practiced exercises that promote balance and stability. Did you know that the Health Department has all kinds of supplies available to those that are at risk for falling? They have everything from grippy socks to grabbers and rug tape and more available for free. With their new drive up window, you don't even have to get out of your car to request them!

One of the things we focus on doing in Curiosity Cafe is to let the teens and preteens pick the theme of the week. We then add in some form of learning and trivia along with competitions for points. Tonight they picked Drama Island where we attended camp for the night. We learned about a real life Spanish sailor, Pedro Serrano, that was shipwrecked with lots of his own drama on a deserted island with no water for 7 years. We competed in camp style games and Shark Attack Bingo. Next week is Minecraft night!

Our next stop was Café Piña where we found someone serving up deliciousness and carrying their library card! It's library card sign up month which means we have been out and about, looking for our patrons, in the wild, living their lives, and carrying their library cards. And we didn't even have to go that far! We took our search to the Riverwalk and found some great people showing off their library cards! They were our very first finds of the season! If you see us out and about, have your library card ready because you could score some library swag. Don’t have a card yet? Stop by the library and get yours today.

Today in storytime, we talked about two things important in life; kindness and love. Our story was about a dog who was still loved by his owner despite the trouble he got in. The kids did a scavenger hunt to find pictures of kids being kind to others. They each had a flashlight to shine while we sang This Little Light of Mine." Thanks for coming today!
