Have you ever wanted to learn how to make your own fig jam? We’re putting on a hands-on Fig Jam Class at the Pickens County Extension Office!

We’ll go through the process of preparing and preserving fresh figs. Each participant will also receive a half-pint jar of fig jam.

Irrigation Water Management Workshop – Pickens County

Join us on Tuesday, July 14, from 9:30 AM–3:00 PM at the Pickens County Extension Office for a hands-on irrigation workshop! Learn about water management, drip irrigation, sprinkler selection, pumping, food safety, and even build a small irrigation system.

Now Hiring: Part-Time County Extension Program Assistant

We are looking for a motivated and organized individual to join our team as a County Extension Program Assistant! This role supports our Extension agents in delivering impactful 4-H youth development and agricultural programs throughout the county.

What You’ll Do:
• Assist with local 4-H programs, events, and competitions
• Support agricultural educational programs and help serve the public
• Answer phones, assist office visitors, and manage day-to-day operations
• Help coordinate and transport youth to district and state events
• Handle program materials, equipment, and event setup

What We’re Looking For:
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and handle confidential information
• Comfortable working with youth and the public
• Willingness to travel locally and assist at events
• Ability to lift/move equipment and materials as needed

Additional Requirements:
• Valid driver’s license (driving is required)
• Background check
• Position involves working with youth under 18
