On the morning of March 23, 2022 just as children were arriving at the campuses of the Whitwell Schools, the Whitwell Highschool SRO located an individual hiding in the baseball field dugout. The SRO requested assistance from Whitwell PD and the individual was detained to determine why he was on school grounds. The individual was identified as Christopher Fletcher of Powell, TN. A records check on Fletcher indicated that he has an active arrest warrant for burglary in the State of Ohio. Fletcher was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
