Any negative comments will be deleted and the writer blocked. Thank you for visiting the Jarrell Fire Department/ Williamson County Emergency Services District No. 5 page! Williamson County ESD 5 provides fire, rescue, and emergency medical service to 75 square miles of north Williamson County, Texas which includes the City of Jarrell, the Sonterra Community, Live Oak, Green Acres and Cor

n Hill communities as well as thousands of acres of farmland, quarries, and industrial business'. The district also covers a 13 mile strech of the IH-35 corridor. The district is covered out of 2 stations staffed 24/7 with 18 career fire fighters and 6 admin staff including Fire Marshall services. The district is funded by property tax and 2% sales tax in areas outside the city limits of the city of Jarrell Texas. These funds are used to pay employees, make building payments, provide necessary insurance including workers compensation, pay utilities, provide training, repair and fuel vehicles, and provide proper protective gear and firefighting tools. The District endeavors to be frugal, creative and prudent with taxpayer money. With the growth that is occurring in the area comes a growth in call volume which is projected to increase more as population density increases. The District is governed by a 5 member board of commissioners that meet monthly to ensure proper fiscal oversight of the taxpayer money. We the employees of Jarrell Fire Department/ ESD 5 are proud to be your public servants that are willing to give our very best to those that call for assistance. We are thankful for the support of the residents and business owners in our district.

Our good friends at Round Rock Fire Department lost one of their firefighters on Saturday.

We ask for our community to be in prayer for the family, friends and colleagues as they navigate through this tragedy.

Also, our friends at Sam Bass Fire Department, Williamson Co. EMS, Sheriff Office and Williamson Co. 911 Communications responded to the call.

This career is difficult enough at times but responding to someone you know makes it even harder.

All Williamson County First Responders are very close. Even across each organization we work together, train together and many are friends and do life together away from the job. So when one suffers we all suffer with them.

Like Romans 12:15, “we rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn.”

May the peace of God be with all involved.

Thanks so much to Hanna Steinmetz. She saw our post about the 29th anniversary of the 1997 Jarrell Tornado this morning and wanted to do a design herself for us.

On Saturday Jarrell Fire along with Jarrell Police, DPS, Williamson Co. Sheriffs Office Williamson Co EMS and Williamson Co. 9-11 Comms responded to a residence in Jarrell for report a 2 gunshot victims.

Jarrell Fire responded to the area and staged for law enforcement to give the clear to enter the area. Once the scene was safe for fire and EMS, crews found 2 patients with non life threatening injuries as a result of a gunshot. Crews treated the wounds and each patient was transported to seperate local hospitals by Wilco EMS where they are stable.

Jarrell PD and Wilco Sheriffs were able to locate the suspect who is now in police custody according to Jarrell PD and Wilco Sheriff. He has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. There is no threat to the public.

Jarrell Fire is grateful for the excellent relationship we have with our law enforcement partners and congratulate them on a well executed response to a very tense situation and successful apprehension of the suspect.

Violence like this happens in every city across the country and in no way indicates that our community is not a safe place to raise your family but also reminds us also that this can happen anywhere so watch out for one another and take care of one another.

Jarrell Fire responded this morning at 2:34 to Druse Ln for a report of a possible structure fire due to a lightening strike.

Crews arrived on scene at 2:39 and initially had nothing showing from the street view, a subsequent 360 walk around assessment revealed smoke was present and crews worked to locate the exact seat of the fire.
The fire was under control early and reported completely extinguished at 3:14.

Of note at the call was the presence of working and activated smoke detectors. While the family was awake and on the couch at the time of the lightening strike, the smoke alarms confirmed that the strike did cause a fire.
The family acted quickly to call 911 getting crews there within 5 minutes and they exited the home and stayed outside.

The sequence of events and safeties in place worked as they are intended from the family being quick in calling 911 and exiting their home to the presence of working smoke detectors. Well done to this family! Their actions kept damage as minimal as can be but most important, kept them all safe.

The Red Cross was called to assist the family with needs and a place to stay.

Jarrell Quint 2, Squad 2, and Engine 1 responded with 9 personnel plus Jarrell Fire Marshal 1 and Williamson Co. FM’s office.

Georgetown Fire covered our district, Williamson Co EMS stood by for any needs and Williamson Co SO provided traffic control & scene security as needed.

As always our awesome dispatchers were the voices on our radios providing support services that we cannot & being our sixth sense.

Thanks to all our first responder partners!

No injuries were reported.

Jarrell Fire strongly encourages working smoke detectors in all homes along with a plan to get out of your home.
We are happy to check your smoke detectors if needed for proper working order.
Make sure to push that button monthly and test your smoke detectors and change the batteries every 6 months.

Flags are lowered across the country today in honor of National Police Memorial Day to remember the 53 officers across the country killed in the line of duty bringing the total number since the year 2000 to over 3000 officers.

First responders work closely with one another and here in Jarrell, we are blessed to have an outstanding working partnership, relationship and even friendships with our local PD, JISD PD, Sheriffs Officers, DPS and even at times federal officers.

Jarrell Fire & Rescue unwaveringly stands beside our law enforcement colleagues and support them in any way we can.

Thank you to those brave officers who gave their lives in service and to those officers who take put their lives on the line each time they simply put on their uniform and step outside their homes.

We have a very special announcement!

In 2026, there have been 2 patrol vehicles hit on I-35 in Jarrell Fire’s district.

Highway response calls represent between 18-24% of the total call volume monthly.

Please meet the newest addition to Jarrell Fire & Rescue… Blocker 1.

This state of the art highway blocker vehicle will serve first responders working an incident on I-35 from fire to EMS and Law Enforcement to Wrecker Drivers.

It is equipped with a large light stick to direct drivers as well as a message board with customizable messages. Additionally it has the Scorpion bumpers designed to not only protect the workers but give any driver who may impact it the best chance to avoid injury or death themselves.

Cost wise, it was $131,500. Compared to a USED fire engine cost of $600,000, new fire engine of $1.2M a used ladder truck of $750,000 or a new ladder truck exceeding $2M, this blocker vehicle not only provides the highest degree of safety for first responders and civilian drivers but minimizes major damage to a million plus dollar fire apparatus, not to mention reduces the chances of critical fire trucks from being removed from service due to damage.

While no measure can completely remove any chance of injury to our crews, we will always strive to do all we can to get our crews home safe to their families.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.
