Promotion announcement!!

Steven Gillam is a lifetime member of Jarratt Volunteer Fire Department. Steven started his fire service career at Jarratt before being hired by Colonial Height Fire and EMS and progressed through the ranks to now Fire Chief. Steven still plays a role in Jarratt Fire as our EMS training officer.

After years of dedication, leadership, and service, we want to recognize Lt. Jon Williamson as he begins a new chapter.

From starting with us as a cadet to serving as Lieutenant, Jon has been a valued part of our department family. His commitment, hard work, and willingness to serve have left a lasting impact on our department and community.

While we are sad to see him go, we are incredibly grateful for the years we’ve had alongside him and proud of all he has accomplished. Thank you, Jon, for your service, leadership, and everything you’ve given to this department.

Once family, always family. Wishing you nothing but success in what comes next!

Today, Jarratt Volunteer Fire Department had the honor of hosting the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride. We were proud to provide lunch, support the riders, and serve as a place of safety along their journey.

Meeting so many riders was a powerful reminder of the strength, dedication, and sacrifice behind EMS. Each mile they ride carries the memory of those who gave everything in service to others.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and to those who continue to ride in honor of our fallen. We are grateful to be a small part of something so meaningful.

It’s that time of year again when Virginia’s open fire burn ban goes into effect. We have already responded to numerous grass/brush fires already. Please follow the ban and burn responsibly. Burn barrels are the cause of a majority of these fires. Please monitor your burn barrels and never leave them unattended.
