JSOL's Survival Science is a popular School District of Janesville Summer School class. In the course, students learn how to build a shelter, collect water, start a fire, and just learn to respect and interact with nature. It looks like they are having a great time!

We might be in the middle of winter, but these hardy folks still found a way to get outside and have some fun at JSOL. We encourage you to get a group of family and friends out for a hike at JSOL or one of the other trails the Janesville Parks & Recreation and Rock County Parks have to offer.

We had over 350 people who came out for our candlelight hike tonight. It actually wasn't as cold as expected, and the night sky was beautiful. Thanks to Mocha Moment for donating the hot chocolate once again! The Ice Age Trail Alliance - Rock County Chapter has more candlelight hikes planned for this month.

Nearly 2800 candles were made by volunteers of the Ice Age Trail Alliance - Rock County Chapter, Rock County Parks and Rock Trail Coalition. These will be used during this winter's candlelight hikes.

Today was our high school guide training day. These students from Craig and Parker will help lead our 4th Grade fall and 2nd Grade spring field trips. They learned how to work with younger children, navigate JSOL, connect with nature, and to just have fun in the outdoors. The students were so respectful and enthusiastic, and we are excited to have them help us out this year!

The Beckman Mill Candlelight Hike scheduled for Saturday, January 20th has been cancelled due to the predicted cold temperatures. The Candlelight Hike will be rescheduled.

It's safe to say that winter has finally arrived in Janesville and JSOL! Although it is quite cold, if you bundle up it is definitely worth the trip. Some adventurous snowshoers have even plowed some trails to make the hiking easier.
