Thank you Greene County Department of Development and Greene County Commissioners for investing in the future of our town!

The Village of Jamestown - Village Offices has been awarded a $31,150 Community Investment Grant through the Board of County Commissioners.

These funds will support the engineering and design phase for a potential critical water main replacement and loop project serving the East Xenia Street and Homestead Street corridor to Old U.S. Route 35.

This important first step toward long-term infrastructure improvements will directly benefit Jamestown residents by:
- Supporting future development opportunities
- Attracting private investment
- Reducing service disruptions
- Increasing emergency fire protection

This project will help position Jamestown to compete for development opportunities at both the local and state levels while continuing to invest in public health, safety, and overall quality of life.

If you are experiencing discolored water please run and flush the water in your sinks. There was a structure fire in Ross Township and they filled multiple tankers to extinguish the fire. The water system will settle out soon. Thank you for your cooperation.

Village of Jamestown
PUBLIC NOTICE: Sanitary Sewer Cleaning & Maintenance

Date Posted: February 25, 2026
Locations: 67 W. Xenia St. thru 48 W. Xenia St., 67 W. Washington St. thru 27 W. Washington St. (This will affect both sides of the street in the listed and highlighted areas of attached map)
Work Schedule: Friday February 27, 2026
Hours of Operation: 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
What is happening?
To ensure a reliable sewer system and prevent future backups, the Village of Jamestown will be performing routine high-velocity cleaning of sanitary sewer lines in your area. This involves using high-pressure water hoses to scour the inside of pipes and vacuum trucks to remove debris.
What to expect:
β€’ Minimal Disruption: Sewer service will not be interrupted.
β€’ Odors: You may notice temporary, slight odors during the cleaning process.
β€’ Noise: Residents may hear loud noises from vacuum equipment.
β€’ Water "Blowback": In rare cases, the pressure from cleaning can cause water to splash or "blowback" through home toilets, sinks, or floor drains.
How to protect your home (Precautionary Measures):
While rare, pressure changes can impact interior plumbing, particularly in homes with inadequate venting. To keep your home safe:
1. Close Toilet Lids: Keep toilet lids closed. To add extra protection, drape a towel over the toilet rim before closing the lid and seat.
2. Cover Drains: Cover basement floor drains and rarely used sinks with a heavy rag or plastic wrap.
3. Check Ventilation: Ensure your home's roof vent stack is clear of debris.
If you experience a blowback:
Please contact the Village of Jamestown at 937-675-5311 to report any issues, questions, and/or concerns regarding this project.
Thank you for your cooperation as we maintain our critical infrastructure.

Update on downtown cleanup: With the amount of snow we received, cleanup is taking longer than we hoped. Crews have worked all evening trying to clear the downtown streets and sidewalks. They are wrapping up for the night and will resume at 9am tomorrow morning.

ATTENTION VILLAGE RESIDENTS: Starting at 5pm on Thursday, January 29th, all parked cars will have to be off the street in the downtown area to make room for the heavy equipment to come in for snow removal. This includes all of N. Limestone St., S. Limestone St., W. Washington St. and E. Washington St. until all snow is removed from that area. Sorry for any inconvenience.

DAYTON – Jan. 25, 2026 – Rumpke Waste & Recycling will suspend trash and recycling collection for Monday, Jan. 26 throughout the greater Dayton area.

Rumpke plans to operate on a one-day delay for the remainder of the week, as road conditions and weather allow. Please leave material at the curb as we continue service throughout the week.

β€œWe don’t take the decision to suspend services lightly,” said Kevyn Vasquez, operations manager. β€œHowever, we must put the safety of our team members, our customers and the motoring public first. Our plan is to collect Monday customers on Tuesday, and Tuesday customers on Wednesday, and so on, with Friday customers collected on Saturday.”

Customers are encouraged to visit Rumpke.com for service updates in their area.
