TODAY 5-7pm - Protest against Rep Clark for supporting genocide and ecocide in Palestine

The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) is hosting an event on scientific research and public health and have invited Rep Katherine Clark. Meanwhile, Clark has repeatedly voted to send weapons to Israel to continue its genocide of the Palestinian people, causing the horrifying destruction of human and other life forms, along with the poisoning of air, water and land has caused irreparable damage to the planet already in crisis.

This does not line up with UCS's values. They should disinvite Rep Clark. Join us in protest:

Tuesday 5-7pm - Protest against Rep Clark for supporting genocide and ecocide in Palestine

This Tuesday, Congresswoman Katherine Clark will be hosted by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) at an event in Arlington focused nominally on the impact of recent federal decisions on scientific research and public health. Meanwhile, she has repeatedly voted to send weapons to Israel to continue its genocide of the Palestinian people, causing the horrifying destruction of human and other life forms, along with the poisoning of air, water and land has caused irreparable damage to the planet already in crisis.

Today at 6pm! Join Jewish Voice For Peace Boston 🍉, Rodfei Shalom / Rabbis4Ceasefire,
, V'ahavtah Synagogue, and Minyan Zayit to mourn together in observance of Tisha B’Av.
Our own recollection of the destruction of the Temple in ancient times and other disasters that befell our ancestors is empty if it does not prompt us to act against destruction happening today.
Using the expressions of mourning associated with Tisha B’Av, we will recognize the tragedies occurring in Gaza, and call on our elected officials to stand with us by supporting the Block the Bombs Act.

ENTIRE MA DELEGATION VOTES IN FAVOR OF CUTTING AID TO ISRAEL

We are proud that the entire MA Congressional delegation of representatives voted in favor of cutting off aid to Israel next year. This is thanks to hard work by organizers here in MA pressuring them, polls showing plummeting support for Israel, and wins by candidates who support Palestine. We celebrate those changes! But this amendment failed so it was ultimately symbolic. We must keep pressuring our members of Congress until they push for real change on the ground, until Palestine is free.

Call them to say thank you and ask them to continue to vote for human rights and advocate for Palestine

Arriving at 250 years of American empire was made possible by the same forces that founded it: the genocide and forced displacement of Native people and by the genocide and subjugation of Black people in the transatlantic slave trade. Our current political moment – under a fascist regime that is deporting immigrants and funding and arming a genocide – is inextricably linked to this history. It is crucial to contemplate parallels between the colonization of Turtle Island (“North America”) and Palestine as we arrive at this moment:

Genocide. Land theft. Ethnic cleansing. Forced displacement of people from their homes, and sequestration into isolated areas with (artificially) scarce resources. Criminalization and surveillance. Denial of sovereignty. Erasure of native history and culture. Ideologies (Manifest Destiny, Zionism) that seek to justify these atrocities.

While there are parallels between the colonization of Palestine and of Turtle Island, there are also distinctions. The colonization of Turtle Island isn’t a monolith, since the various peoples have endured it in different ways.

Supporting Palestinians’ right to return and right to self-determination in their homeland goes hand in hand with supporting Indigenous people’s demand for Land Back — for restoration of Indigenous sovereignty and stewardship, and respect for their deep connection to and knowledge of their lands.

writes that for indigenous people and Palestinians, “the struggles against settler colonialism are the same… because settler colonists share playbooks,” and “zionism, white supremacy, and imperialism… act as one to oppress.”

And both groups are working toward a similar vision of liberation. In
’s words: “Just as we fight and organize to reclaim land on Turtle Island, our Palestinian relatives fight and organize to return the land and for the land to return to the people.”
