Friends of Carrizo Gorge Scenic Railroad

Friends of Carrizo Gorge Scenic Railroad A fan page dedicated to creating awareness of the excursion train potential through Carrizo Gorge. Since then the original movement has faded off the map.

There is a long term proposal to restore the tracks between Tecate, Mexico and Plaster City, CA for freight rail service. This page is meant to promote the idea of operating weekend excursion trains alongside the freight trains between Jacumba, CA and the siding at Dos Cabezas through the spectacular Carrizo Gorge. This was an idea started in the late 1960s by Bryce Santry and Robert Montague, who

along with several other associates and San Diego city council members formed the Carrizo Gorge Scenic Railroad Company. It was their dream to run excursion trains through the gorge out of Jacumba, but the idea was shut down by then-operator of the tracks Southern Pacific. This page is meant to resurrect that movement through social media and reignite the conversation to one day bring passenger trains back to Carrizo Gorge.
