Yesterday, Girls Inc. of Jacksonville had the honor of kicking off World Su***de Prevention Day alongside our programming team and students at Edward Waters University Chapel.

Our team had the opportunity to share more about Girls Inc. of Jacksonville and the transformative programming we are bringing to girls throughout the 2026 to 2027 school year. Through programs like Project Accelerate, we are creating opportunities for girls to build confidence, develop leadership skills, discover their voices, and prepare for their futures.

We are especially proud of the incredible work being led by our Youth & Young Adult Manager, who continues to create meaningful experiences, build connections, and cultivate spaces where our youth and young adults can learn, grow, lead, and thrive. Her dedication to our programming is helping bring the Girls Inc. experience to life for the young people we serve.

One of the most powerful moments of the day was hearing from one of our own Girls Inc. Ambassadors and Project Accelerate participants Victoria Kuehmeier, who courageously shared her testimony and personal journey.

Watching a young woman use her voice, share her story, and encourage others is exactly why this work matters. Her courage is a reminder of the power of mentorship, connection, community, and creating spaces where young people know they are valued and supported.

Today, we continued our observance by joining students for a walk and fellowship in honor of World Su***de Prevention Day.
At Girls Inc. of Jacksonville, we believe prevention begins with connection. It begins with listening, creating safe spaces, building relationships, and reminding every girl that her voice matters, her story matters, and her future matters.

From the classroom to the community, we’re accelerating possibilities. 🚀❤️

Project Accelerate closed out the week at FSCJ and walked straight into the weekend with purpose, partnership, and a commitment to our girls.

Through our Project Accelerate programming, Girls Inc. of Jacksonville partnered with The Church of Oakland and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. to support girls as they prepare for college, careers, and the limitless possibilities ahead of them.

This work is about more than preparing for the next step.

It’s about helping girls see themselves in the future they envision, build the confidence to pursue it, and develop the skills to make it happen.

When communities come together, we create more than programs. We create pathways, opportunities, and momentum.

❤️ We invest in girls today because we know they will shape the leaders, innovators, professionals, and changemakers of tomorrow.

The future is waiting. And our girls are getting ready.

We are proud to expand our impact by being embedded in schools and afterschool programs, providing girls with opportunities to develop the skills, confidence, and support they need to succeed.

Our work is strengthened through partnerships with community organizations that are aligned with our mission and committed to investing in the future of girls.

📅 October 5: We are honored to announce that our CEO, Deidra Simon, will be the Motivational Speaker at the 17th Annual Girls Empowerment Summit Conference, hosted by Northside Community Involvement, Inc.

☀️ Summer may be over, but the impact continues! 📚✨

Our girls are officially back in the classroom and ready to learn, lead, and excel! We are excited to continue working with them throughout the school year.

Before we jump into a new season, we want to pause and reflect on an amazing summer of programming across our Elementary, Middle School, and High School departments. 💜

📖 Elementary School
We took literacy into the community! In partnership with Abyssinia Baptist Church and Open Arms Community Church, our girls were guided through fun, engaging, and educational literacy adventures that encouraged learning beyond the classroom.

🔬 Middle School
Our girls participated in a three-week leadership and STEM camp, exploring what it truly means to be a leader while discovering the exciting world of STEM. Throughout the summer, our staff also hosted weekly empowerment and leadership sessions with girls at First Baptist Church of Oakland.

🎓 High School
Our high school girls explored their futures through a college tour, gaining valuable insight into life beyond high school. They capped off the summer by giving back to the community through a service project in partnership with the Clara White Mission.

None of this would have been possible without our incredible community partners, volunteers, and dedicated staff. Thank you for pouring into our girls, creating meaningful experiences, and helping make this summer one to remember! 💜

Now, it’s time for our girls to take everything they learned this summer and SOAR into the school year! 🦋📚✨
