Thank you Miles College for sharing about Joann Bashinsky “Mama B” she always wanted to educate our youth and brighten your day. She made a difference!
Today, we’re kicking off our Women’s History Month Spotlight with the late Joann Bashinsky. In September 2020, the Golden Flake heiress announced the establishment of the Joann Bashinsky Scholarship Fund at Miles College. The $168,000 gift provides three four-year scholarships to competitively selected students who lack the financial resources to attend college. Before her death, Bashinsky personally contributed more than $17 million in scholarships, school supplies, and academic accessibility. She didn’t grow up wealthy, and her parents could not afford her education. When she did make it to college, she made education her mission. “I made a vow that if I ever got any money, I would send any kid to school that wanted to go,” she declared in one of her last interviews.
