North Florida TPO

North Florida TPO The North Florida TPO is the independent regional transportation planning agency for Duval, Clay, Nassau and St. Johns counties.

We lead our region's efforts in planning, funding and mobilizing resources to develop and maintain our transportation system. The North Florida Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) is the independent regional transportation planning agency for all of Duval and the major parts of Clay, Nassau and St. We work closely with our agency members and partners to develop and administer transportation

plans and programs. Additionally, we conduct studies and provide a regional forum to identify and address transportation issues. That’s how we meet the transportation needs of our growing region. New and improved roads, transit services, greenways and technologies require extensive planning, funding and coordination among multiple government agencies, stakeholder groups and the public. And the North Florida TPO is leading the way.

Northeast Florida is home to hundreds of miles of shared-use trails that connect communities, parks, schools and destinations across the region.

One of the most ambitious projects underway is Jacksonville’s Emerald Trail, a planned 30-mile network of trails and greenways that will connect 14 historic neighborhoods, downtown Jacksonville, schools, parks, businesses and transit options.

A quick glance can save a life.

Bicyclists are a common sight throughout Northeast Florida, whether they're commuting to work, exercising or enjoying local trails. Drivers can help keep everyone safe by staying alert, checking blind spots, and watching for cyclists at intersections and driveways.

Remember to give at least three feet when passing a bicyclist, check mirrors and blind spots before turning, and stay focused behind the wheel.

🚸 Safer sidewalks. Stronger communities.

The Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program helps schools create safer, more accessible routes for students to walk and bike to school by addressing barriers like missing sidewalks, poor infrastructure, and limited opportunities for active transportation.

We’re excited to see these SRTS-funded projects moving into construction over the next two years:
🔹 Yulee Elementary Sidewalk — Construction begins in 2027
🔹 Hogan-Spring Glen Elementary Sidewalks — Construction begins in 2027
🔹 San Jose Elementary Sidewalks — Construction begins in 2028

The City of Jacksonville is proud to announce the first video in its Meet the Trails series, highlighting the S-Line Urban Greenway.

The S-Line is a vital urban trail connection serving over 13,000 residents within a 10-minute walk. The trail is unique in that it is used frequently for commutes, errands, and transportation, rather than existing solely as a fitness or recreation trail.
