The FBI is offering a reward up to $50,000 for information to locate and capture Michael Timothy Puckett. This adds to the $10,000 already being offered by the U.S. Marshals Service for a combined reward up to $60,000.

FBI Richmond is assisting the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Marshals, the Virginia State Police, and multiple local and state agencies in a manhunt for Puckett, who is facing an Aggravated Murder charge in Virginia.

Carroll County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a welfare check at Puckett's home on Fancy Gap Highway on Friday at approximately 9:30 p.m. When they arrived and made contact, authorities said Puckett opened fire, shooting both deputies, killing one deputy and injuring the second. He then fled the scene.

We are asking the public to check surveillance video or trail/hunting camera images to assist in real-time tracking of the fugitive. We also ask home and business owners to lock your vehicles, close your garage doors, lock up your sheds and do not leave anything outside Puckett could use to assist him to elude capture. Call 911 if you see Puckett.

One man is behind bars, and detectives continue to search for a second suspect after they killed a man in a motel room last week.

On Friday, May 29, District 6 Patrol officers responded to a motel room on Golfair Boulevard. When officers arrived, they found 40-year-old Giavonathan Butler with a gunshot wound. He passed away at the scene.

Our Homicide Unit detectives immediately began working to determine who fired the gun. After reviewing surveillance footage, witness interviews, and physical evidence in the motel room, our detectives identified 25-year-old Alfred Jones III as one of the gunmen in this case.

We received an arrest warrant for Jones on Sunday, May 31. On that same day, our SWAT Team took him into custody, arresting him for Butler’s murder.

We know Jones did not work alone, and we continue to search for the second gunman. If you have details in this case that could lead to an arrest, please call First Coast Crime Stoppers (1.866.845.TIPS). Your information is kept confidential, and you will be eligible for a $5,000 cash reward.

We will not give up on the fight for justice for Butler’s friends and family.

WANTED WEDNESDAY: Do you recognize this dirt bike deviant?
Yes, we’re talking about another dirt bike deviant because another person’s dirt bike was stolen!

On Sunday, May 17, this dirt bike deviant responded to a Facebook Marketplace listing for a dirt bike and told the seller to meet him at a house on Ernest Street. The seller agreed and arrived to the meeting point a few minutes later. Our dirt bike deviant then asked to ‘test drive’ the bike before buying, which the seller agreed to this request.

What our seller didn’t agree to was a never-ending test drive. Our dirt bike deviant took off on his ‘test-drive’ and never returned.

We need your help identifying this dirt bike deviant this suspect before he test drives another ride.

If you recognize this dirt bike deviant, call us at 904.630.0500. Want to stay anonymous? Contact First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1.866.845.TIPS, and you could be eligible for a cash reward (maybe to spend on a dirt bike?).

Don’t recognize him? You can still help by visiting our Unsolved Crimes page. You never know who you might recognize.

Do you recognize this man? Our Special Assault Unit detectives arrested 32-year-old Evan Daniel Kaufman on Wednesday, February 11 for a list of charges including Sexual Battery, Sexual Cyber Harassment and Video Voyeurism. Now, our Special Assault Unit detectives want to know if he assaulted other women so we can bring justice to all his victims.

Our investigation began in June of 2025. Our detectives learned that numerous women had engaged in consensual sexual acts with Kaufman. He would record the incidents with the understanding that it would remain private. However, Kaufman uploaded the videos to many pornographic websites, including the woman’s name in the uploads.

While our detectives investigated these reports, we also learned Kaufman sexually battered a victim while she was under the influence of alcohol and unconscious. Another victim reported to our detectives that Kaufman committed the crime of video voyeurism while she was also under the influence of alcohol and unconscious.

If you believe this man may have assaulted you or believe he has posted images of you online, please give our Special Assault Unit a call directly (904.630.2168). We want to bring justice to every one of Kaufman’s victims.

We’re including Kaufman’s mugshots, the first taken in 2019 when we arrested him for Driving Under the Influence and the second taken this week when we arrested him on the charges listed above.
