Yesterday we had a wonderful lunch at Blue Bamboo restaurant for our annual Volunteer Luncheon. Lots of laughter and fellowship with
the a unique group of people. Thanks for the day. Helen Hawkins was chosen as our volunteer of the year.

We had a great members only sale last night, with over 180 new and renewal members showing up. Thank you Jacksonville for your support of the Jacksonville Public Library.
Sale continues today and tomorrow.

Dave Wells, the book sale manager, wants to remind everyone that we have a special membership pricing starting October 1, 2015.
Membership fee for remainder of 2015 is now $5.00 per person or you can purchase a 2016 membership, which includes the remainder of 2015 as well as all of 2016 for $12.00 fee.
Members only sale starts at 4:00 pm on October 9th.
Members special is buy a bag of books for $10.00 and get your second bag is FREE!

Did you know that our bookstore is open 3 days of each week? You don't have to wait until our next sale to buy good quality used books, DVDs, music, all venues and audio books too!
The store schedule is:
Tuesdays 9 to 12:00 p.m.
Thursdays 9 to 12:00 p.m.
Saturdays 9 to 3:00 p.m.
We also need volunteers to work during these times. New volunteers are encouraged to just walk in the door with a smile and help us to support YOUR library.
We need volunteers with various skills to help us as they can. Come by and see if we can help you to find something useful to do to help us.

FJLP is a great place to volunteer but it seems that we don't have very many people that post things. We invite the people of Jacksonville Florida to join us. We play with books! We have fun, we do good deeds, we make money for the library. We care about the library and we want to help them to stay open and to be open even more than today. Why are most of the libraries in Jacksonville closed on Monday? Why aren't they open 7 days a week?

What can YOU do?
Come to any Friends event.
Buy books at the FJPL store at the University Park library.
Call your city council person.
Go to the library in person or by media and check out a book. Post likes on Facebook.
Join one of the many Friends groups throughout Jacksonville. Read. Pass on the love of reading.
Give some of your hard earned dollars towards the effort to make Jacksonville Florida a good place to live.

The board of directors of FJPL has announced that we will have a booksale event March 6, 7 and 8, 2015 at our warehouse in the University Park Library. This will be a different kind of sale than in the past and hopefully a successful fund raiser for JPL. Keep tuned for more details.
