The Arc Jacksonville

The Arc Jacksonville Empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental differences since 1965 The Arc Jacksonville believes anything is possible.

Individuals with intellectual and developmental differences are our partners in discovering possibilities for a fulfilled life. Together we unlock potential for achievement at home, at work, and at play. The Arc Jacksonville believes we all have the right to be in community and to make personal decisions about how we live, learn, work and play. Each day, we help more than 500 people discover and unlock the possibilities within themselves. At the same time we help those who support adults with disabilities make informed choices about services and service providers. Join us on this journey toward the possible.

🍦 Dairy Queen Jacksonville Beach sees possibilities, not limits.

Ryan, one of our On Campus Transition (OCT) students, is putting his talents to work at Dairy Queen, taking on a variety of roles throughout the restaurant.

He’s following in the footsteps of Nick, another Arc Jacksonville individual who was encouraged to grow into new responsibilities—from bussing tables and packing orders to taking drive-thru orders.

That’s what happens when employers see potential, create opportunities and believe in their employees. ❤️

This National Disability Awareness Month (NDEAM), we’re giving a big shoutout to Dairy Queen Jacksonville Beach for recognizing that people with IDD are part of the winning formula for a strong workforce.

That’s a pretty cool team.🍦👏

Employment doesn’t always start with a job. Sometimes, it starts with an internship, a volunteer opportunity, or someone willing to open a door. ⚓️

Since February 2026, Evan has been interning aboard the USS Orleck, gaining hands-on experience in a historic Jacksonville landmark. He found the opportunity through the ship’s volunteer program — and he turned that opportunity into a meaningful internship experience.

But his learning doesn’t stop there. He also interns as a teacher’s assistant, where he recently prepared and facilitated a lesson on Vincent van Gogh. 🎨📚

That experience is helping him strengthen his communication and leadership skills while aligning with his long-term goal of becoming a history teacher.

This is why internships matter. They give people with intellectual and developmental differences the chance to explore their interests, build confidence, develop workplace skills, make connections and show employers what they can do.

For Evan, one opportunity is helping open the door to the next.

Because IDD talent is everywhere. Sometimes, it just takes an opportunity to see it. 💙

Meet Jameson. ❤️

Since 2018, Jameson has been a valued member of the team at Triumph Industries, The Arc Jacksonville’s fulfillment contract with Johnson & Johnson.

He’s built his skills, grown in his role, earns above minimum wage — and most importantly — found a job he genuinely loves.

This National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) we’re celebrating Jameson snd the many individuals with intellectual and developmental differences who bring their talents and dedication to the workplace every single day.

He loves his job. We love him. This is what meaningful employment looks like. ✨

We are excited to welcome Ricardo Foster to The Arc Jacksonville Board of Directors! 🌟

Ricardo’s connection to The Arc Jacksonville began as a student in our High School High Tech program. We then connected Ricardo to an employment opportunity at Wolfson Children’s Rehabilitation, where he continues to work today as a Rehabilitation Technician, supporting children with autism and their families.

A dedicated self-advocate, Ricardo has used his experiences to educate others and champion greater opportunities for people with differences. He has welcomed leaders from Baptist Health and Wolfson Children’s Hospital to the rehabilitation center, sharing his perspective to raise awareness about autism and advocate for employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental differences (IDD).

In 2025, Ricardo was recognized as The Arc Jacksonville’s Jason "Moose" Hamilton Trailblazer of the Year for his leadership, determination and advocacy. During his remarks, Ricardo shared a message that reflects the perspective he continues to bring to his work and advocacy:

“Your disability does not define who you are. It highlights your uniqueness. You are valuable. You are capable. And you are worthy of every opportunity that comes your way.”

From High School High Tech student to employee, self-advocate, Trailblazer and now Board member, we are proud to have Ricardo bring his lived experience, leadership and voice to The Arc Jacksonville Board. Welcome, Ricardo! 🧡
