VBAC BIRTH BABY!!!!🥳 This was what we doulas call a “Dream team birth”!
Was it perfect? No. Was this mama supported, empowered, fed, held, encouraged, listened to, and cared for through every minute of her 24hr labor?….. ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY!!

Got to 9.5 cm natural using all the comfort measures: the shower, the labor comb, essential oils, the doulas reminders to breathe that baby down and let her muscles release tension. Massage, counter pressure, position changes, words of encouragement galore from her husband! Then when that OP baby (facing mamas belly) just would not turn, and an anterior lip (part of the cervix on the belly side of you is there but everything else has melted back behind baby’s head) proves to be stubborn and position changes didn’t work… an epidural for a 10 minute break and midwives Jordan and Norma rolled in to hold that cervical lip back while she pushed like it was her entire meaning in life…. 💪 That precious (and already marching to the beat of his own drum) 7 lb 5oz baby boy graced us with his presence almost fully OP still 🙃

Yes rare emergencies can happen, but most of how your birth goes is all because of what you’ve put in, your attitude towards what you are handed and the CHOICES you make. To witness it is a blessing.

A 7 lb 11 oz baby boy was welcomed by his loving mama and daddy a few weeks ago and there couldn’t have been more pure joy in a room than there was in this one after a 2 day induction.

She wanted:

A supported birth ✅
A vaginal birth w/an epidural ✅
Avoid major tearing ✅
To be respected and listened to ✅

She got that and so much more! Not because of a doula, but because SHE sought what she KNEW she needed, prepared to manage all the things, and had a positive attitude while being up for whatever we needed to do position wise to get this sweet kiddo out safely, without increasing risk!

👀 POV: Two moms (due weeks apart) go into labor at the same time…. But you hired birth doula agency for support so you don’t have to stress about who would be by YOUR side!

One clients water broke all on its own, contractions started shortly after and ramped up fast after a long nap and some pumping at home.

The other client chose a membrane sweep once she realized she was 6cm in an office visit and not in labor AT ALL. 👀 Which changed as light surges started within a few hours of the sweep that morphed into a beautiful, frequent active labor pattern by the time evening rolled around.
