Jacksonville TX Fire Department Jacksonville fire department provides fire and EMS protection for the city of Jacksonville Texas

The Jacksonville Fire department established in 1906, have been providing fire protection for the city. In the early 1980's the city also took over the responsibility of the ems coverage, today we have 23 paramedics and 5 emt's that help cover the ambulance's, they are also certified firefighters. The city averages 3400-4000 calls per year, this is covered by 24/7 coverage by the paid staff, there

is also a daytime added ambulance, Monday - Friday that helps cover extra calls and transfers between the hospitals. As EMS Week comes to a close, one thing remains constant..... our appreciation and respect for EMS professionals never ends!

This year’s national EMS Week theme, *“Stronger Together: For Every Patient, Every Time,”* perfectly reflects what this profession is all about. EMS is built on teamwork, trust, sacrifice, and a shared commitment to serving others when they need us most. No matter the hour, the call, or the challenge, EMS professionals continue to show up for their communities every single day.

Being in EMS means more than responding to emergencies. It means compassion in moments of fear, strength in moments of chaos, and dedication even when no one is watching. It’s the long shifts, the missed holidays, time away from families, the difficult calls, and the unwavering commitment to caring for others.

To all of our brothers and sisters in EMS, thank you for the sacrifices you make, the lives you impact, and the heart you bring to this profession. We are proud to stand together with you, not just during EMS Week, but every day of the year.

As we continue celebrating EMS Week, today we want to recognize the leadership behind the scenes at the Jacksonville Fire Department.

With a combined experience of more than 50 years, Fire Chief Paul Findley and EMS Division Chief Alicia Whetsell work tirelessly to keep this department moving forward every single day. While crews are serving on the front lines, they are working behind the scenes making sure personnel have the equipment, support, training, and resources needed to provide the best care possible to our community.

EMS Week is about honoring those who answer the call, but it is also a reminder of the leadership and support system that helps make that mission possible. Their commitment to both the department and the citizens we serve does not go unnoticed.

EMS Week may be coming to an end soon, but today we’re celebrating the crew that finishes strong — C Shift. 🚑

Behind every call is a team willing to leave their families, miss sleep, and step into someone else’s worst day without hesitation. C Shift handles the long nights, the tough calls, the unknowns, and still finds a way to bring energy and laughter to the station.

They are problem solvers, caregivers, teammates, and a steady presence for our community when help is needed most. The work they do often goes unseen, but the impact they make is felt every single day.
