Severe Weather Preparedness Week runs from Monday March 2nd to Friday March 6th, 2026. Morgan County is no stranger to Severe Weather, here is a map of all the confirmed Tornadoes since 1950. After the outbreak we had last June, please have a plan and be prepared when those sirens go off!!

We are proud to share that West Central has been recognized as an Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE) for Police Dispatch by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch - IAED . This makes us the 32nd Police ACE in the world and just the second Tri-ACE agency in Illinois, with accreditation in Police, Fire, and Medical dispatching.

This honor represents the daily commitment of our 911 Telecommunicators who answer every call with professionalism, compassion, and a drive for excellence. Their hard work ensures high-quality emergency response for the residents of Morgan, Greene, and Calhoun counties. Our team supports 15 law enforcement agencies, 19 fire departments, and 8 ambulance services — all while providing coordinated emergency response across nearly 1,400 square miles.

This achievement reflects the strength, teamwork, and dedication of our entire staff. We are incredibly proud of the work they do every day to serve our communities. 💙🚨

AND SO IT BEGINS!! Well the day is here.. the Elevator guys are here checking things out, so the elevator will most likely be down until the new one is installed.

If you have any disabilities that prohibit you from using stairs, and you need to conduct business at the Morgan County Courthouse in person, please call the office you are working with ahead of time, so the staff can make the proper accommodations for you as we work through our improvements.

For those planning to head west on Interstate 72 in the next month!!

TRAFFIC ALERT: As a reminder - tomorrow, May 30 at 6:00 a.m., the Interstate 72/U.S. 36 Mark Twain Memorial Bridge near Hannibal is scheduled to close for up to 30 days while structural repairs are completed. During the closure, traffic will be detoured to cross the Mississippi River at West Quincy. Travelers in Missouri will utilize U.S. Route 61 to U.S. Route 24 to West Quincy. Motorists in Illinois will use Interstate 72 to Interstate 172 to Illinois 104 to reach Missouri. Message boards and signs will be in place in Illinois and Missouri to alert motorists of the closure with signed detours. Before you travel, check the MoDOT Traveler Information Map at www.modot.org

Heads up Folks!! In addition the construction on West State Street, please note work on the Courthouse Elevator will start on June 9th!! Many Courthouse offices are making plans in order to still serve those who are not physically capable of going up our stairs, but if you are concerned about the stairs, please call ahead so the offices can make the necessary arrangements for you.

Given the Construction along State Street, please access the Morgan County Courthouse by turning onto Court Street off of Church Street. (located just North of Grojean Insurance Agency) Keep in mind it is a one way East, so Please use caution when traveling through.
