JAXImpact

JAXImpact Educational awareness program that brings the TRUE LIFE crime scene to the public for all to see, sharing a story of Life, Death and Responsibility.

JAXImpact is an educational awareness program that brings the "TRUE LIFE" crime scene to the public for all to see, sharing a story of Life, Death, and Responsibility! Each attendee that experiences our motivational speaking engagements, our eye opening hands-on prevention tool Fatal Vision® Goggles (a special lens technology by Innocorp, Ltd. that allows the wearer to experience a realistic simul

ation of impairment) along with car crash display will be motivated to take our "Pledge for Life and Responsibility" and receive our "Promise Bands". Each time a wearer picks up a phone to text or talk, grabs a set of keys, has a casual drink, before, or while driving – our hope is that these promise bands will serve as a reminder to the participants to take responsibility and remember the tragic crime scene shared with them! By sharing this presentation from ALL sides, someone's life will change, someone's life will be saved, and crimes will be reported before tragedy strikes! The IMPACT of our display and presentation will remind all to Teach & Take Responsibility every day, promoting safety today for a safer tomorrow! We will educate all attendees on the dangers and truth of traffic crashes. Attendees will understand that the presumption of guilt starts at 0.08% BAC, no percentage is a safe or “Legal Limit” and responsibility starts at 0.00%! Attendees will also recognize and understand that these tragedies are not accidents they are crashes reflecting the 96% of reported crashes versus only 4% are truly accidents.

Attention Nassau County Residents: It is time to sign up for NCSO’s “Teen Driver Challenge” program! 🚗💨

Did you know that teen drivers are three times more likely to be involved in a fatal crash as other drivers? Sheriff Bill Leeper and the Nassau County Sheriff's Office is committed to protecting our young drivers while doing everything possible to significantly reduce the number of injuries and deaths associated with traffic crashes. That is why the Sheriff’s Office has partnered with the Florida Sheriff’s Association and is offering a program called the Teen Driver Challenge. It is a free course designed to help teens boost their driving skills and lessen the chances of being involved in a crash. The program will provide a mixture of classroom instruction and hands-on driver training.
Teens 15-19 are eligible and must have a valid Florida Operators License (A learners license of at least 6 months is required) and participants must provide their own vehicle. A current copy of their driver license, vehicle registration and insurance is required. Each class is limited to 12 students.
"We try to take young drivers and help them with their driver skills in crisis and everyday traffic," Sheriff Bill Leeper said. "It's all about awareness. There's defensive driving and you need to be aware of what you're doing, but also be aware of other motorists."
The Teen Driver Challenge is not an advanced driving course. It is a defensive driving program that covers the following topics and driving exercises:

• Vehicle Dynamics
• Human Factors
• Responsibility
• Liability
• Drug and Alcohol Use
• Night Driving
• Aggressive Driving and Road Rage
• Safe Driving Habits
• Aggressive Driving
• Using your Senses
• Knowing your Vehicle

All Instructors are Nassau County Sheriff Deputies. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a certificate of completion. Certificates may be presented to your auto insurance company for a possible reduction in your insurance premium.
“I am honored to partner with the Florida Sheriff’s Association on this amazing program and invite your teen to participate in this life saving course,” Leeper said.

The Teen Driver Challenge will be held at Yulee Middle School, located at 85439 Miner Road Yulee, FL 32097

Visit our website at https://www.nassauso.com under the Programs tab for more information on how to sign up!

Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer, but it’s also one of the deadliest times on the road. During the 2017 Labor Day holiday weekend, 376 people died in traffic crashes — 36% of those crashes involved a drunk driver. Driving drunk or high puts everyone in danger. Let’s work together to make this Labor Day holiday safe and fun for everyone. Remember, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and If You Feel Different, You Drive Different – Drive High, Get a DUI.

Children Are Among the Innocent Victims

At JAXImpact we about Vehicular Crimes (DUI, Texting and Driving, Distracted Driving, Hit & Runs) these are crimes, they are homicide and our community is plagued with it every day. Often less reported and usually a quick blurb in the headlines but these loved ones matter!

Need a reason to get involved, need a reason to be responsible, need a reason to understand? We’ve got 10,497. That’s how many people were killed in drunk driving crashes in 2016, 1,550 passengers were riding with a drunk driver, 948 were nonoccupants (pedestrians, bicyclists, and others) and 214 children 14 and younger were killed. 92% occurred in clear/cloudy conditions compared to 6% in rainy conditions and 2% in other conditions; 70% occurred in the dark compared to 26% in daylight, 3% in dusk, and 1% in dawn; and 86% occurred on non-interstate roads compared to 14% on interstate roads.112 Million people drive drunk each year in the United States! Alcohol and Drug abuse is involved in over 95% of ALL homicides we see every day! Every year, about 421,000 people are injured in crashes that have involved a driver who was distracted in some way.

Impairment isn't just alcohol and drugs, it's anything that impairs your ability to drive safely. A consistent growing new killer on our roads involves the device you are using right now as you read this post. In 2016, there were 3,450 people killed in motor vehicle crashes involving distracted drivers, this doesn't include the 562 nonoccupants (pedestrians, bicyclists, and others) killed in distraction-affected crashes. Over 330,000 crashes caused by texting while driving lead to severe injuries.

A tragedy is never an accident when people have done exactly the things that will cause that tragedy. A tragedy is never an accident when people have a choice. You are free to choose, but you are not free from the consequences of your choice! Together we can in our community! LIKE JAXImpact get involved, BE RESPONSIBLE!

It’s a common myth that driving under the influence of ma*****na isn’t all that dangerous. But how does ma*****na really affect the ability to drive safely? Ma*****na use impairs driving performance, driving high is by no means safe.

Ma*****na has been shown to impair driving performance significantly for 1 to 2 hours following use, and residual effects have been reported up to 24 hours after use. These impairments are moderate in low doses, and severe with high doses, chronic use, and in combination with alcohol.

Reported impairments include:
* Inability to concentrate and maintain attention
* Difficulty performing divided-attention tasks
* Reduced hand-eye coordination
* Distortion of time and distance
* Increased evaluation, decision, and reaction times
* Sleepiness

Even a moderate impairment can prevent drivers from responding quickly to unexpected hazards and maintaining the high level of attention needed for safe driving.

In fact the National Organization for the Reform of Ma*****na Laws (NORML), which promotes the legalization of the responsible use of ma*****na, recognizes this danger in its Principles of Responsible Use, arguing that: "The responsible cannabis consumer does not operate a motor vehicle or other dangerous machinery while impaired by cannabis, nor (like other responsible citizens) while impaired by any other substance or condition, including some medicines and fatigue.”

Any loss of life while impaired by any substance is unacceptable and irresponsible, responsibility is the first priority when operating a motor vehicle.

You probably see and hear a lot about alcohol from TV, movies, music, and your friends. But what are the real facts about underage alcohol use? Some common myths and sobering facts about alcohol use:

MYTH: Beer and wine are safer than liquor.
FACT: Alcohol is alcohol… it can cause you problems no matter how you consume it. One 12-ounce bottle of beer or a 5-ounce glass of wine (about a half-cup) has as much alcohol as a 1.5-ounce shot of liquor. Alcopops sweet drinks laced with malt liquor often contain more alcohol than beer!

Responsible Adults and Teens, with graduation commencements around the corner JAXImpact would like each of you to share some life saving facts that may help someone make a responsible decision. Congratulation's to ALL the Graduates!

Enjoy Cinco de Mayo responsibly. Don't drink and drive and find a safe ride home!

Life can change in an INSTANT. There are no second chances, drive safely and responsibly! Together we can ! It is our responsibility; we owe it to our future!

Even if you have a blood alcohol concentration of less than 0.08 percent, you can still be charged with a DUI or DWI under certain circumstances. Generally, anyone with a BAC of 0.08 percent or more is considered “per se intoxicated”, which means there’s no other evidence necessary to prove a driver’s impairment. Nevertheless, just because you’re not at the 0.08 percent threshold doesn’t make “buzzed” driving OK. The presumption of guilt starts at 0.08%, responsibility starts at 0.00%!

"As they work, to survive their deepest pain, Jacksonville police officer Jack Adams and his children, are proving the strength they draw from each other and how they are an inspiration to all of us. "It's a double edge sword," Jack told us, while staring at photos of his wife Cathy in their living room. "Some days it's hard to see. Some days it brings a tremendous amount of comfort, you know. There's still a part of her here.""
