Homeschooling is getting popular especially among military families. East Coast Homeschooling Organization (ECHO) is having their open house tomorrow, August 1, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the Jacksonville Bible Church (501 Anne St., Jacksonville, NC).

ECHO has a lot to offer homeschooling families this fall. The ECHO Co-op has activities for children (Nursery-High School) every Friday from 9:45a-12:45p, except on Federal holidays and scheduled Co-op breaks. Some weekly activities included for fall: PE, Picturing America, Expedition Earth, World History, Current Events, Drawing, Biology Lab, Debate, Teaching with Movies and more. Field trips, holiday celebrations, and community service events are also planned.

Jacksonville NC weather. Monday's high temperature of 65 degrees. Tuesday will have snow showers with high of 34 degrees. How crazy is that?

I saw two hangars being built in MCAS New River. I was told as soon as the hangers are done, they are going to work on the funds to relocate some marines from Cherry Point over to New River. I also heard MARSOC is getting two new squadrons. Between MCAS New River and MARSOC, about 10,000 military marines are coming to Jacksonville within the next 3 years. Does anyone know anything about this?

The local USO here in Jacksonville needs donation for Thanksgiving. They especially need desserts. They have done so much for our military guys and gals. My kids love my chocolate chip cookies and that is what I will be donating. Please help if you can. Here is the USO info.
