⛈️Hey NAS Jacksonville today is the first day of Atlantic hurricane season. Do you know what the different Tropical Cyclone Conditions of Readiness mean and why they matter to you?

🌀Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness (TCCOR) is the method used by the Navy to inform the base population, and tenant commands of the location and projected landfall of an approaching hurricane or tropical storm.

🌀TCCOR 5 Set at the beginning of hurricane season, The base remains at TCCOR 5 until the Commanding Officer orders the setting of TCCOR 4 due to a specific storm threat.

🌀TCCOR 4 indicates possible threats of destructive winds are possible within 72 hours. Begin stocking up on essential supplies such as food and water.

🌀TCCOR 3 indicates destructive winds of force are possible within 48 hours. Double check your emergency supplies, and secure loose outdoor items.

🌀TCCOR 2 Indicates destructive winds of force are anticipated within 24 hours. Secure loose outdoor items, and prepare to shelter in place or evacuate.

🌀TCCOR 1 indicates destructive winds of force are occurring or anticipated within 12 hours. Essential personnel report for duty. Facilities on base close. Outdoor activity limited to emergency & essential services.

🇺🇸 Wishing everyone a Memorial Day filled with reflection and appreciation to honor our heroes.
Memorial Day commemorates the men and women who died while in military service of the United States of America. The purpose of Memorial Day is to memorialize the veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Today, we spend time remembering those who lost their lives and could not come home. Reflecting on their service and why we have the luxury and freedom that we enjoy today.
