Last our team came together to raise money to give back to our community. We were able to provide every Pre-K student with a book to take home. πŸ“š

Reading plays such an important role in a child’s development. It builds imagination, confidence, communication skills, and a lifelong love of learning. Something as simple as a book can create special moments at home and open the door to big dreams.

We appreciate the recognition from the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office and the strong partnership shown during this incident.

Great work by Calhoun and Pike County dispatchers in coordinating a complex, multi-jurisdiction response and helping bring it to a safe resolution.

We’re also proud of TC Madison, TC Taylor, and TC Taijia for their role in supporting this incident β€” contributing to communication, coordination, and overall situational awareness as it unfolded.

PRESS RELEASE

On April 4th 2026, at 11:13 PM, the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office was notified by West-Central 911 Dispatch of a Rolling Domestic Disturbance in Progress, happening on Pump Station Rd., in northwest Calhoun County, Illinois.

West Central 911 Dispatchers coordinated efforts between the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Pike County Sheriff’s Department and the Illinois State Police; in an effort to attempt to locate the moving vehicle.

Deputy Skyler Lambeth with the Pike County Sheriff’s Department located the vehicle in Pleasant Hill, Pike County, Illinois and took a male suspect into custody.

A Trooper with the Illinois State Police and a Deputy with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office were also involved in the investigation and apprehension.

Subsequent to an investigation, Justine L Burse, age 45, of Pleasant Hill, Illinois was arrested for the following offenses:

β€’ Aggravated Domestic Battery – Strangulation,
β€’ Aggravated Domestic Battery,
β€’ Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

Burse was arrested without incident and was booked into the Pike County Jail and is currently being held without Bond.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank West-Central 911 Dispatch for their efforts and outstanding work during this incident. We would also like to thank the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police for their assistance in the investigation and apprehension.

They were going to stay for a picture… but duty called. A Delta call came in, and they had to make a fast exit before we could get them posed and smiling.
