🚒 THE WAIT IS OVER! 🚒

Today, we are proud to officially introduce the newest addition to the Jacksonville Fire Department family: our 2026 Pierce Enforcer 100’ Ascendant Aerial Tower Ladder.

This truck represents much more than a new apparatus—it is an investment in the safety of our community, our firefighters, and our ability to serve Jacksonville for decades to come. From fires and technical rescues to elevated access and specialized operations, this truck will enhance our capabilities and help us better protect the citizens we are honored to serve.

Projects of this magnitude do not happen overnight. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the City of Jacksonville, our elected officials, and the taxpayers who made this purchase possible. Your support and trust allow us to continue investing in the equipment necessary to provide the highest level of service to our community.

We would also like to recognize the dedication and leadership of both former Fire Chief Doug Sills and current Fire Chief Matt Summers. This project spanned years of planning, research, and decision-making, and their commitment to ensuring Jacksonville firefighters have the tools they need played a critical role in bringing this truck home.

A special thank you goes to the members of our department who dedicated countless hours to this project. From researching options and developing specifications to traveling to Wisconsin during the build process, these firefighters worked closely with Pierce Manufacturing to ensure every detail of this truck was tailored to the needs of Jacksonville and the citizens we serve.

We would also like to thank Pierce Manufacturing for their partnership, professionalism, and craftsmanship throughout the entire process. We are proud to place this truck into service and look forward to the impact it will have on our community for many years to come.

While today marks the arrival of an incredible new truck, there are still a few exciting things ahead. 👀

Be sure to follow our page, like and share this post, and keep an eye out for future updates. You won’t want to miss what’s coming next.

Thank you, Jacksonville, for your continued support and for making investments like this possible.

Today we had the pleasure of hosting the Jacksonville Police Department's Teen Police Academy (TPA) at the Jacksonville Fire Department!

The teens took on a firefighter-themed obstacle course that gave them a small taste of the physical demands, teamwork, and problem-solving that firefighters face on the job. They competed both as teams and as individuals, and we were impressed by the effort, enthusiasm, and competitive spirit they brought to every challenge.

We always enjoy opportunities like this to work alongside our partners at the Jacksonville Police Department and connect with the young men and women in our community. Building those relationships and giving our youth a look at different public safety careers is something we truly value.

A big thank you to JPD for allowing us to spend part of the day with their group, and to all of the teens for being engaged, having fun, and giving it their all.

And if a few of them decide they'd rather be firefighters than police officers after today... well, we promise there won't be any hard feelings. 🚒😉

🍋🍪Supporting Our Young Entrepreneurs! 🚒

One of the best parts of being out in the community is getting to meet the next generation of hardworking Jacksonville residents. Today, while out and about, our crew stopped by a lemonade and cookie stand run by Daxtyn, Mason, Mylee, and Taelyn Weimer.

We always enjoy seeing young entrepreneurs learning the value of hard work, responsibility, and customer service. When we have the opportunity, we’re proud to support these efforts and encourage our local youth to dream big and work hard.

Thank you for the lemonade, cookies, and smiles! We wish you all the success in your business ventures. Keep up the great work!

Today, we pause to remember the men and women who gave everything in service to this country. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend or the start of summer — it is a day of remembrance for those who never made it home.

Their sacrifice secured freedoms many of us enjoy every single day, often without a second thought. We honor the courage, selflessness, and unwavering commitment of America’s fallen heroes and the families who continue to carry their memory forward.

From all of us at the Jacksonville Fire Department, we ask our community to take a moment today to reflect, remember, and never forget those who gave all for our nation.

“All gave some. Some gave all.”

As another school year comes to a close here in Jacksonville, it also means one of our favorite times of the year—getting out into the schools and spending time with the kids in our community. 🚒

Recently, crews had the opportunity to take our engines to Eisenhower Elementary and North Jacksonville Elementary to help students cool off with some water, while our ladder truck made its annual trip to South Jacksonville Elementary for their egg drop event.

Moments like these are about more than just spraying water or showing off trucks. Being part of the community is a large part of being a firefighter, and we take pride in building relationships with the youth in our city. These visits give kids a chance to interact with firefighters in a fun environment, ask questions, and get an up-close look at the apparatus that serves their community every day.

It’s also an opportunity for us to show the taxpayers of Jacksonville that we are proud stewards of the equipment and resources they provide us. We’re grateful for the support this community gives us, and we enjoy every opportunity to give back.

Thank you to the schools, staff, and students for having us out. We hope everyone has a safe and fun summer! ☀️🚒

This week, we celebrate the EMTs, Paramedics, dispatchers, and EMS professionals who answer the call every single day—often on someone else’s worst day.

At Jacksonville Fire Department, our ALS crews are proud to work alongside dedicated EMS partners across our community and surrounding areas. Whether it’s on the fireground, at a crash scene, during a medical emergency, or standing by together after the call—your commitment, compassion, and professionalism never go unnoticed.

Thank you for the long hours, the calm under pressure, the lifesaving care, and the heart you bring to this profession.

From all of us at JFD:
Happy EMS Week to every EMT, Paramedic, dispatcher, first responder, and EMS provider out there.

Different role. Same mission. Stronger together. 🚑🚒💙
