From puppy to protector. 🐾💙

We are incredibly proud of K9 Penny and her handler Officer Addeo for the outstanding work they do each day to help keep our schools safe. Penny has become an invaluable part of our department, and watching her grow into such an exceptional narcotics detection K9 has been amazing.

A special thank you to Smart Paws Resort & Training for trusting us with this incredible partner and for the kind words. We couldn't agree more—Penny is definitely kicking butt!

As we have closed another school year and begin preparing for the next, we pause to remember three members of our Duval County School Police family whose absence continues to be deeply felt.

We said goodbye to School Safety Assistant William Oldring, School Safety Officer Anthony Lucano, and Communications Supervisor Kimberly Shiver.

Each served our students, schools, and community with dedication, professionalism, and a commitment to keeping others safe. Their contributions helped shape our department and left a lasting impact on the countless lives they touched throughout their careers.

While a new school year brings new opportunities and new beginnings, we carry with us the memories of those we have lost. Their service, friendship, and unwavering commitment to our mission will never be forgotten.

To their families, friends, and colleagues, please know that their legacy remains a part of the Duval County School Police Department. We honor their memory, celebrate their lives, and remain grateful for the time we were privileged to serve alongside them.

Ofc. Lucano dedicated his life to service, leaving a lasting impact on those he worked alongside and the community he served. Known for his unwavering commitment, kind heart, and genuine love for helping others—both people and animals—he will be remembered for the difference he made each and every day.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing him during this incredibly difficult time.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our Duval County community, our Furbruary Pet Drive was a huge success! 🐶🐱

Because of YOU, we were able to collect and donate a large amount of much-needed supplies to our local animal shelters. These donations will go directly toward caring for animals in need and helping them feel a little more loved while they wait for their forever homes.
