On September 8, 2026, the Police Department presented several important agenda items to the City Council regarding the City’s radio communications system. These investments are critical to maintaining a reliable, efficient, and effective communications network that supports the safety and operations of our employees.

With the City Council’s support and approval, the Police Department is able to move forward with these important projects and continue making strategic investments in the City’s communications infrastructure.

Following the presentation, Chief of Police Gene Paul Smith presented Police Communications Manager Erin Citrullo with a Commendation Award in recognition of her exceptional dedication, diligence, and professionalism throughout the contract negotiation process with the system vendor.

Erin’s commitment to protecting the City’s interests and her tireless efforts during the negotiations resulted in a $986,969 reduction in costs to Jacksonville Beach taxpayers.

This is an outstanding example of the difference that dedicated public servants can make—not only through the work they perform every day, but through their commitment to responsible stewardship of public resources.

Congratulations, Erin, and thank you for your exceptional service to the City of Jacksonville Beach!
