Teen takeovers are not harmless gatherings—they are organized events that lead to fights, shootings, thefts, property damage, and other criminal activity.

The Jacksonville Beach Police Department will not tolerate criminal behavior that threatens the safety of our community. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners and will aggressively investigate and pursue those responsible.

Florida's new statewide initiative through the Office of Statewide Prosecution (OSP) provides additional investigative and prosecutorial resources to identify organizers, build strong cases, and hold offenders accountable. When these events are planned in advance, participants and organizers may face conspiracy and other criminal charges.

As summer vacations begin and more families head to the beach, the Jacksonville Beach Police Department would like to remind everyone to keep personal belongings secure.

Unfortunately, unattended valuables can quickly become targets for theft. Items such as wallets, cell phones, purses, watches, and car keys should never be left unattended on the sand—even if they are covered with a towel or hidden inside a cooler or beach bag while you take a walk or go for a swim.

Help protect yourself by bringing only essential items to the beach, keeping valuables with you whenever possible, and remaining aware of your surroundings. Looking out for one another and taking a few simple precautions can go a long way in ensuring everyone enjoys a safe, relaxing, and memorable day at the beach.
