A huge thank you to State Rep. Anna Eskamani for requesting her Medicaid expansion petition online! As she said, Florida remains one of only 10 states in the country that has refused to expand Medicaid — impacting working folks, neighbors, and families across our state. We can change that, but it takes all of us.

Florida is one of only 10 states that still hasn't expanded Medicaid. That means nearly 800,000 working Floridians fall into a coverage gap — earning too much for Medicaid, too little for marketplace subsidies. It's time to let voters decide. Request your petition → FDHPetition.link

Medicaid expansion is about supporting our rural communities that face the harshest consequences of all: hospital closures, staffing shortages, reduced services, and growing financial strain. Every day, thousands of families lose access to important medical services and go without health coverage.

This has to change.

Sign the petition to put Medicaid expansion on the 2028 ballot. If you’ve already signed it last year – sign again, it’s a new cycle!

The tough news?
🆘The Congressional Budget Office just dropped 10 year projections revealing that an addition 9 MILLION Americans are expected to lose Medicaid coverage in the next decade (link in comments). This projection comes as 10% of Floridians are already living without insurance, ranking Florida next to last in the nation for health care access.

The good news?
💪We're already working on solutions, starting with putting health care back into the hands of Florida voters. We're organizing NOW to put Medicaid expansion on the ballot in 2028, and we need YOU at the table!

States like New York, California, and our neighboring red states have expanded Medicaid – but Florida? We send $5 billion to Washington each year.

These funds could singlehandedly reduce out-of-pocket costs, medical debt, and reduce the amount of uninsured adults in our state.

Medicaid expansion is common sense -- for workers, for families, and especially for rural communities. Thank you Dr. Joel Rudman for having representatives of Florida Decides Healthcare's executive committee from Florida Voices for Health and Florida Policy Institute on your show to discuss how other states, like Louisiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Kentucky, have expanded Medicaid and supported health access to their rural communities.
