Today was a truly monumental day for the JPSPD family! We had the distinct honor of traveling to the MDCC Law Enforcement Training Academy to witness a lifelong dream turn into reality.
Chief C. Harris and the Command Staff were proud to stand by as Kevin Rollins was officially sworn in as Officer Kevin Rollins (Class 26-B82)! Kevin has carried the spark of becoming an officer since he was a child, and when JPSPD gave him the chance, he didn't just take it—he ran with it.
Congratulations, Officer Rollins! We are so proud of your dedication and can’t wait to see the impact you'll make. The best is yet to come!

What an honor! On December 11th, at the Hinds County Youth Court's State of the Child Address, Jackson Public School Police Department Chief Corliss Harris was recognized as a 2025 Champion for Children. Other award recipients from various agencies in the Hinds County community were also honored. JPSPD, JPD, HCSO, Byram PD, and Capitol Police were all celebrated for their collaborative work with the Youth Court’s Diversion Program. Protecting our young people takes all of us!

We are absolutely thrilled to share a massive step forward in student safety! Yesterday, the JPS Police Department, in powerful partnership with Pastor Wyane Hall, senior pastor of Jackson First Church, hosted a vital Narcan Training for all JPS School crisis team members!
This is what proactive policing looks like. We are not waiting for a crisis to hit. Our focus is on being prepared, trained, and ready to respond before it's too late. You've been asking how we're addressing the serious concerns facing our community, this is our action-driven response!
We stand firmly by the belief that "an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure." Our students' well-being is our top priority, and equipping our teams with this critical, life-saving knowledge is non-negotiable.

What a successful day! The JPS Office of School Support component hosted a phenomenal community event today at the Mississippi Trade Mart in Jackson, MS.
