It is with deep sorrow that we recognize the loss of Brent Lowe, the Superintendent of Butts County Schools. His leadership and dedication have profoundly influenced our community, and we are thankful for his contributions.

The Mayor, Council, and the City of Jackson offer our heartfelt sympathies to Brandi, Clint, Cal, Maggie, and the whole Butts County School System. We invite everyone to join us in keeping the Lowe family and all those who cherished him in our thoughts and prayers.

We have a jam-packed day of food, music, and community spirit:

📍 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Two Centuries of Taste BBQ Cook-Off at The Orchard (236 W Third St). Come hungry!

📍 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM: Downtown Square Activities. Move over to the Square for live music (featuring Mark Ware & B Muzick Band), dance performances by T&K Dance Studio.

🛍️ Shop Local: Our downtown businesses will be offering specials throughout the day—come see what’s available!

In solemn honor of the life and dedicated service of Harold "Doc" McMichael, all City flags will be flown at half-staff today,
Thursday, June 4, 2026, and tomorrow, Friday, June 5, 2026.

Harold "Doc" McMichael will be greatly missed, and his commitment to servanthood will always be remembered by our community.

We encourage all residents and local businesses throughout the City of Jackson to join us in this tribute by flying their own flags at half-staff for these two days as a mark of respect.

The City of Jackson mourns the loss of a devoted public servant, Harold "Doc" McMicheal.

Doc dedicated himself to our community, serving with distinction as a City Councilman for the City of Jackson District 3 City Council Seat from 1998 to 2013. His commitment and service to the City of Jackson will be remembered by all.

He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time of loss.
