DON’T LET YOUR OUTLET BECOME A HOT SPOT!

Your electrical system works hard every day, but overloaded outlets, damaged cords, and DIY wiring can turn a normal day into a bad day.

Before plugging in that space heater, power strip, or appliance, take a quick look:

🔌 Don’t overload outlets or power strips
⚡ Replace frayed, cracked, or damaged cords
🔥 Never run cords under rugs or furniture and don't attach them to walls
🏠 Use the right wattage bulbs and appliances
🛠️ If something keeps tripping the breaker, find out why...don’t just reset it
👨‍🚒 When electrical work is beyond your skill level, call a qualified electrician

Remember: extension cords are for temporary use, not permanent wiring.

A few seconds of prevention can save you from a whole lot of trouble.

What a great picture of Engine 2 and Engine 1 at St. Mary’s Church yesterday for the First Responders Blue Mass. We are honored to be a part of this.

Thanks to the Knights of Jackson, St Mary hosted a Blue Mass yesterday. This is a special Mass for all first responders. After the Mass the Knights treated the honored guests to a BBQ of pulled pork and ribs.

Your City of Jackson firefighters were honored to take part in a 9/11 tribute hosted by Jackson Public Schools - Where Community Comes Together prior to kickoff tonight at Withington Stadium.

We joined our brothers and sisters from City of Jackson, MI Police Department, Jackson County Office of the Sheriff,Jackson Community Ambulance,Michigan State Police, Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety to honor those lost and affected by 9/11.

While firefighters were at Jackson High School the Chief of the Jackson Fire Dept. was honored to read names at another 9/11 ceremony held at the Cascades Falls.

Thank you for the opportunity and the support of our community, we are truly humbled.

We will never forget…🇺🇸

From Kindergarten through adulthood one thing that remains a constant with fire safety...knowing your escape route and teaching it to those in your home!!

This can be a great teaching tool for your kids and loved ones, involving the entire family is a surefire way to make sure everyone is on the same page. If you have loved ones in their own homes, talk to them also!

🚒 Welcome Back, Fire Inspector Tyler Whitehead! 🚒

Fire Inspector Tyler Whitehead completed a week-long professional development program at the National Fire Academy (NFA) focused on Youth Firesetting Prevention and Intervention .

Youth firesetting is a serious community safety issue that can place children, families, firefighters, and the community at significant risk. The NFA’s Youth Firesetting Prevention and Intervention program provides fire service professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to better understand the causes and behaviors associated with youth firesetting, identify children who may be at risk, and develop effective prevention and intervention strategies.

This training enforces valuable knowledge in recognizing warning signs, assessing youth firesetting behaviors, working with families and community partners, and developing educational strategies designed to prevent fires before they occur.

The Jackson Fire Department is proud to invest in the continued education and professional development of our members. Bringing specialized training such as this back to our community allows us to further our commitment to fire prevention, public education, and protecting the lives and property of the citizens we serve.

Please join us in congratulating Fire Inspector Tyler Whitehead on completing this important training and welcoming him home from the National Fire Academy! 👏
