ITS was excited to spend today with the Advisory Board for the 2026 Mississippi Digital Government Summit, helping shape the conversations that will bring together technology leaders, public sector innovators, and industry partners from across our state.
As we reviewed potential topics, one theme stood out: technology is no longer a support function—it is a strategic enabler of better government. From AI, cybersecurity, and data governance to digital transformation, modernization, workforce development, and citizen experience, the issues facing government today require collaboration across agencies, sectors, and disciplines.
At ITS, we are proud to help lead many of these efforts in Mississippi and look forward to sharing our state's progress, lessons learned, and vision for the future. The Summit provides a valuable opportunity to connect, learn from one another, and explore how technology can continue to improve services for the people of Mississippi.
Mark your calendars for September 9, 2026. Looking forward to seeing many of you there and continuing the important work of building a more secure, modern, innovative, and connected state government.

Flag Day is celebrated on June 14 in the United States. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. We proudly recognize the symbol that represents our nation, our freedoms, and our commitment to public service. 🇺🇸

ITS was proud to participate in the June 3 meeting of the Mississippi House Select Committee on Government Efficiency at the State Capitol.

Government efficiency is not just about doing more with less. It is about designing government to work better for the people we serve — with clearer processes, stronger accountability, better data, and the smart use of technology.

The committee’s eight focus areas align directly with the mission and strategic initiatives of the Mississippi Department of Information Technology Services:

• Digitizing high-volume services
• Modernizing legacy IT systems and cybersecurity
• Advancing a unified citizen experience for high-volume services
• Supporting outcome-based budgeting
• Building a modern workforce strategy
• Introducing automation and AI responsibly
• Strengthening cross-agency data integration
• Institutionalizing scope control to prevent mission creep

These are not abstract concepts for ITS. They are the core of the work already underway across enterprise technology planning, procurement modernization, cybersecurity, cloud strategy, AI governance, data integration, shared services, and digital government.

The opportunity before us is significant: to move Mississippi government forward in a way that is practical, secure, citizen-centered, and sustainable. Technology alone will not solve every challenge, but when paired with sound governance, clear priorities, and cross-agency collaboration, it can be one of the State’s most powerful tools for improving service delivery and stewardship of public resources.

Thank you to Chairman Zuber (District 113) and Chairman Lott (District 107) for the opportunity to contribute to this important conversation and for the committee’s focus on solutions that can help modernize how Mississippi government serves its people.
