Here ye, hear ye!

We are now accepting registrations for the All Rise Summer Law Camp. Students who will be entering grades 7-12 in the upcoming school year can participate.

Camp dates are June 1-5. The registration deadline is May 22. There is no cost to attend.

There is no cost for the camp - campers will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Judge Terrett recently attended the Fellowship Summit 5.0 sponsored by the Judicial Engagement Network (JEN).

JEN is a national community of engaged judges and judicial officers leading efforts to improve community responses and judicial and court practices to domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

Judge Terrett is part of the inaugural group of Fellows who completed the program in 2019.

Judge Terrett had fun reading the tongue-twisting "Fox in Socks" with pre-K students in Ms. Winston and Ms. Williams' class at Dana Road Elementary School.

She was one of several volunteers visiting schools and libraries this week to motivate and encourage young readers. Literacy matters!

Congratulations to the River City Early College Mock Trial team on a job well done at today's regional competition sponsored by the Mississippi Bar Association.

These students represented the Vicksburg-Warren School District and their community in a wonderful way. Thank you to Dr. Kenitra Ezi, Mrs. Carolyn Bradley, and Mrs. Alexandria Burrell for coordinating the logistics leading up to the big day.

Team coaches included Judge Terrett, Attorney Lane Campbell, Attorney Kim Nailor and Law Clerk Keenen Jones.

Each year the Access to Justice Committee presents panel discussions at the state's two law schools where students are encouraged to consider practicing law in rural areas. Judge Terrett was pleased to be part of the panel recently held at Mississippi College School of Law.

A portion of the Ninth Circuit Judicial District meets the criteria of being a "legal desert" because of the dearth of attorneys living and working there. Judge Terrett supports all efforts that make legal representation more convenient and accessible for citizens of rural communities.
